star this property answer text <p>The United Kingdom continues to closely monitor events in Zimbabwe, including the recent changes within the ruling party. We remain committed to supporting the aspirations of the Zimbabwean people for a more democratic, stable and prosperous future.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>In 2013/14 we provided £106 million in aid to Zimbabwe. This aid focused on helping the country’s poorest people, including providing healthcare, water, sanitation, and access to markets needed for people to earn enough money to meet their basic needs.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>No UK aid goes directly through GoZ systems. UK aid is instead channelled through multilateral institutions such as United Nations Agencies, most notably the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), as well as international Non-Governmental Organisations and the private sector.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The most up to date figures of DFID spend can be found in DFID’s Annual Report.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The UK is the first country to announce its contribution of $50million to the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) Catastrophe Containment and Relief (CCR) trust to relieve the burden of debt caused by the Ebola epidemic in West Africa.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The CCR trust is expected to provide grants-for-debt relief of $100million for the three countries most affected by the ongoing Ebola epidemic: Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone. These countries will be able to access funds to cover upcoming repayments to the IMF for two years, allowing them to redirect those resources to fighting the outbreak, restoring services and reinvigorating the economy.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>In addition, the IMF have provided further funding through their existing programmes in the region bringing their total financial contribution to the Ebola outbreak to date to $349million.</p><p> </p> more like this

The UK has provided £9million to the UNRWA Gaza Flash Appeal, and remains the third largest donor to the UNRWA General Fund. star this property answer text <p>We are in regular contact with the Government of Turkey on the need for effective aid deliveries into Syria. Access for medical and relief supplies from Turkey to northern Syria has been ongoing through cross-border operations carried out by International NGOs, and has increased since the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 2165/2191 authorising the UN to deliver aid across borders without regime consent. Following the adoption of Resolution 2165, according to the UN over 410,000 people have been reached with medical assistance, including more than 347,000 people from Turkey.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>In Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey and Iraq, DFID is supporting 13 implementing partners to carry out planned winterisation activities totalling over £32 million. This will provide an estimated 660,000 vulnerable people with items such as warm clothing, thermal blankets, mattresses, stoves, cash/vouchers and shelter support. In addition to our ongoing support to UNICEF in Syria and the region, a further £2 million has been provided to procure 65,000 blankets for Aleppo and Tartous in Syria reaching 32,500 children, and clothing kits for 45,000 children.</p><p> </p> more like this
