Electric vehicle infrastructure is at a different stage of market development to hydrogen and currently has sufficient viable commercial propositions which is suitable for investments of this type.</p><p>The government is committed to introducing appropriately targeted interventions in hydrogen to support its growth as a transport fuel in the UK. The government has allocated £30m funding to increase the uptake of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and roll out more cutting edge infrastructure – part of this funding has now been awarded to a successful consortium bid which will see additional hydrogen refuelling stations being built as well as upgrades to existing refuelling infrastructure. Even the latest diesel models produce, on average, six times more nitrogen oxide (NOx) in real-world tests compared to lab tests.</p><p> </p><p>The diesel supplement for company car tax aims to encourage manufacturers to bring forward next-generation clean diesels sooner. Cars which meet the Real Driving Emissions Step 2 standard are not liable to pay the supplement.</p><p> </p><p>Each year, 350,000 company car drivers replace their vehicle. Since coming to office in 2010, this Government has reformed the approach so that now, PF2 contracts deliver better value for money for the taxpayer.</p><p> </p><p>We have also improved the VfM we get from existing PFI contracts, and this will deliver over £2 billion in efficiencies over the remaining life of the contracts.</p><p> </p><p>The performance of PFI and PF2 contracts is monitored by the procuring authority. The government has published a range of advice on managing PFI and PF2 contracts, covering areas such as operational savings, refinancing and termination.
