star this property answer text <p>We want the UK to have the greatest possible barrier-free trade with the EU, delivered through a bold and ambitious Free Trade Agreement.</p><p><strong><br></strong>After we have left the EU, we want to ensure that we can take advantage of the opportunity to negotiate our own preferential trade agreements around the world. We will not be bound by the EU’s Common External Tariff or participate in the Common Commercial Policy. But we do want to ensure that cross-border trade with the EU is as frictionless and seamless as possible. star this property answer text <p>We have been clear that, under the Withdrawal Agreement, EU citizens in the UK on a pathway to settled status will continue to be able to access benefits after the end of the implementation period on the same basis that they can access them now. This broadly means equal access for workers and the self-employed and limited access for those not working. If these individuals go on to acquire settled status, they will then be able to access benefits on the same terms as comparable UK nationals.</p><p>Legal aid will continue to be available to all that meet the required criteria under the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012 (LASPO) and who require legal services that are within scope of LASPO.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Discussions are ongoing across Government about our post-Brexit relationship with the EU, including in respect of future cooperation on asylum. Ministers from the Department for Exiting the EU have regular discussions with Cabinet colleagues, including the Home Secretary, on issues relating to the UK's exit from the EU. The Government has been clear that it is in both the UK and the EU’s best interests to continue to cooperate on asylum and illegal migration issues when we leave the EU.
