Both Government and independent research has identified that zero hours contracts are an important part of a flexible, modern labour market. However, the Government shares the concerns regarding job security which is why the Prime Minister asked Matthew Taylor to carry out an independent review of employment practices. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 21/01/2019 answer text <p>I have had regular discussions with my ministerial colleagues, Hitachi, Horizon Nuclear Power and the Japanese Government regarding the proposed Wylfa Newydd power plant, as well as visiting senior executives of Hitachi in Tokyo in August 2017. I recently met with the Japanese Prime Minister and representatives of Hitachi at Downing Street last week. We fully recognise that Hitachi’s decision will be a disappointment to people in Anglesey and North Wales, especially given the efforts of many stakeholders to support this project. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 06/01/2015 answer text <p>The electronic Q&amp;A system has removed the requirement to subscribe to the TSO feed for Parliamentary Questions (PQs) resulting in a saving to the Department of £6,504.40 per year.</p><p>The reduced paper costs, although relatively small, are also welcome both in environmental and financial terms.</p><p>The Wales Office has not had to introduce, plan to introduce or improve any existing ICT systems.</p><p>The Q&amp;A system has allowed the department to answer PQs later in the day than the previous paper-based system, mitigating against the small number of cases where answering close to the deadline was unavoidable. It also allows hon and Rt hon Members to receive their answers instantly once uploaded, and on the electronic platform of their choosing.</p><p>One of the benefits of the new system is the possibility for the reporting of the timeliness of answers to Parliamentary Questions to be delivered with greater consistency and accuracy across all answering bodies.</p><p>It will be for the Procedure Committee to evaluate the effectiveness of the new system in improving performance when it assesses the evidence following the end of the session.</p><p> </p> answering member constituency Vale of Glamorgan answering member printed Alun Cairns question first answered 06/01/2015 15:16:02 answering member 4086 label Biography information for Alun Cairns

This is published on a sessional basis by the committee, and includes evidence regarding departmental performance. The monitoring report relating to the 2012-13 session was published on 13 February 2014 as HC1046. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 01/12/2021 answer text <p>UK Government is in regular engagement with the Welsh Government on a wide range of subjects, including the Windrush Compensation Scheme.</p><p> </p><p>Home Office officials wrote to the Devolved Administrations, including the Welsh Government, to inform them of significant changes we made to the Windrush Compensation Scheme in December. Home Office officials have also engaged with the Welsh Government to encourage the promotion of engagement events the UK Government has held in Swansea, Newport and Cardiff.</p><p> </p><p>The Government also raised awareness of the Windrush Schemes through the national advertising campaign, launched in August 2020, which included radio stations, digital channels and local press in Wales. Campaign materials were also made available in Welsh.</p><p> </p><p>In addition, the Windrush Community Fund, which is a £500k fund to promote awareness of Windrush Schemes to affected communities, was promoted across the UK, including in Wales. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 23/01/2024 answer text <p>I have regular discussions with Home Office ministers on a range of issues and I recognise the contribution of the Windrush Generation to Wales. I was pleased to meet the Windrush Cymru Elders at the Mission Seafarers in Newport on 31 October 2023.</p><p> </p><p>The Windrush Compensation Scheme is determined to ensure everyone who was affected receives every penny of the compensation to which they are entitled at the earliest point possible. The scheme is making significant progress towards achieving this aim. As of the end of November 2023, the scheme had paid over £75 million in compensation and over 78% of claims received had been given a final decision.</p><p> </p><p>The time to allocate a claim for a substantive casework consideration has been reduced significantly, from 18 months to under 4 months.
