	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 21/03/2016 answer text <p>The Ministry of Defence has been made aware of 37 cases from the original list of approximately 3,300 names submitted to the French authorities where the veteran had died before their case could be submitted. In addition, the French Embassy has advised us of 14 cases in which the medal has been sent out but was returned to them specifically because the individual had died.</p><p>Under the terms of the arrangement with the French authorities, within which the normal timetable for processing awards has greatly reduced, the Ministry of Defence can submit 100 cases per week. Cases are normally submitted in order of their original submission to the Department; but we prioritise cases where we are notified of life-threatening or serious conditions.</p><p>Since the new system began in July last year we have sent 3,150 applications to the French Embassy and it should be remembered that this alone is more cases than would normally be dealt with by the Legion d'Honneur in all categories for a whole year. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 13/04/2016 answer text <p>The Service Charities Partnership Board (SCPB) is the most senior MOD Forum with charities and is attended by the Confederation of Service Charities (COBSEO), The Royal British Legion and the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association.</p><p>Our structured engagement serves to help identify gaps in current provision and increase coherence. The SCPB meets quarterly chaired by the Chief of Defence People with an annual Ministerial-led meeting attended by a broader spectrum of Armed Forces charities. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 06/06/2016 answer text <p>In order to help the French authorities, who are ultimately responsible for the awarding of the Legion d'Honneur, we have developed improved administrative procedures whereby the UK is submitting Legion d'Honneur applications to the French in a steady flow in approximately the order that they were received by the Ministry of Defence.</p><p>Some 3,300 applications were received by the Department between June 2014 and March 2015. After forwarding these to the French authorities, the majority of these veterans have now received their award; exceptions are those where no contact information has been provided. Since April 2015 another 1,500 (approximately) applications have been received, and they are still arriving on a weekly basis. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 29/06/2016 answer text <p>The current proportion of Sponsored students at Welbeck who enter Initial Officer Training (IOT) with one of the three Armed Services, or a career in the Ministry of Defence (MOD), after graduating from university is over 70%.</p><p>The information provided is based on a rolling cycle of figures using the 2007-2009 school entry figures set against the numbers in the same years who passed into IOT with the Armed Services or the MOD. The figures are 74, 71 and 73% respectively. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 12/09/2016 answer text <p>The Net Pay Deduction (NPD) for Fire Officer grades, or abatement in the case of Fire-fighters, is the adjustment to the salaries of DFRS personnel to allow for the differences between their pension arrangements and those of Local Authority Fire and Rescue Service (LAFRS) employees. Ministry of Defence (MOD) Fire-fighter and Fire Officer grades are members of the Civil Service Pension Schemes and the Principal Civil Service Pension Scheme (PCSPS), whereas LAFRS staff belong to Local Authority Fire Pension Schemes (LAFPS).</p><p>The MOD Fire-fighter abatement is a single blended abatement figure based on a weighted comparison of member contributions rates between the PCSPS and the LAFPS. The abatement calculation makes allowance for the impact on the value of pension benefits which arises because the MOD Fire-fighter pension is based on an abated salary. The calculation of the abatement ignores differences in pension benefits between the schemes being compared.</p><p>The pay abatement level for Fire-fighters is calculated on behalf of the MOD by the Government Actuary Department (GAD). The current abatement of 7.1% is being reviewed by GAD to take account of the introduction of the new Civil Service Pension Scheme on 1 April 2015 and the Local Authority Fire-fighters Pension Scheme 2015.</p><p>For Fire Officer Grades the NPD has been calculated primarily by considering the differences in member contribution rates between the different pension schemes. The current NPD was implemented in 1993 and according to available information the calculation ignores differences in pension benefits accrued between the schemes but may have taken account of wider pay issues. The current NPD is 5.9% of pre-tax basic pay. In practice, an adjusted NPD, equal to 3.54% of pre-tax pay, is applied to Fire Officer salaries. This does not reduce the tax payable by the officer.
