Equality is never a one-time fix and it is right that we should keep re-examining the issues.</p><p>This Parliament is the most gender and LGBT diverse ever, but there is still more to do. Political parties are responsible for their candidate selection and should lead the way in improving women’s representation. We are determined to bring an end to this abhorrent practice and, as we said in the LGBT Action Plan, we are considering all legislative and non-legislative options to do this.</p><p> </p><p>We recognise this is a complex issue that we need to get right. We want to engage widely, and listen carefully, so that we can develop a range of measures that end these practices for good. We are conducting more detailed research into the experiences of those that have undergone conversion therapy, and will task the LGBT Advisory Panel with looking into this issue as their first priority when they meet for the first time, in the new year.</p><p> </p><p>Ending these practices will take time. That is why we are making Relationships Education compulsory in primary schools, and Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) compulsory in all secondary schools.</p><p>High quality teaching of these subjects will help children understand positive relationships, how to value difference and respect for others, and the law on abuse and harassment in an age appropriate way. The consultation on the draft regulations and guidance closed on 7 November. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 13/12/2018 answer text <p>Further to my answer of 13 November to my Rt Hon Friend the Member for Loughborough, I have received a number of representations regarding section 106, including from civil society organisations.</p><p>We continue to keep uncommenced provisions of the Equality Act 2010 under review. Equality is never a one-time fix and it is right that we should keep re-examining the issues.</p><p>This Parliament is the most gender and LGBT diverse ever, but there is still more to do. Political parties are responsible for their candidate selection and should lead the way in improving women’s representation. We have worked in partnership with the Women’s Business Council to develop and publish a Toolkit for employers: Staying On: The Age of Success. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 11/12/2018 answer text <p>A) Since becoming the Minister for Women and Equalities in April this year, The Minister has had one introductory meeting with Stonewall to discuss LGBT policy, and one meeting with The Founder of a Women’s Place.</p><p>B) Since beginning its consultation engagement work in September 2017, the Gender Recognition Act (GRA) consultation team have met with the named organisations on the following number of occasions:</p><p>i. Mermaids: once</p><p>ii. Stonewall: four times</p><p>iii. Gendered Intelligence (GI): three times</p><p>iv. Transgender Trend: twice</p><p>v. Fair Play For Women (FPFW): twice</p><p>vi. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 20/12/2018 answer text <p>Everyone in the UK should have the opportunity to progress and fulfil their potential in employment, to benefit both the individual and the wider economy. Despite accounting for just under half of all employees in the UK, women are more likely to be in low paid work than men.</p><p>The Government has an aspiration to end low pay, and next year it will set out the Low Pay Commission’s remit from 2020 onwards.</p><p>The National Living Wage (NLW) benefits a higher proportion of women than men. In April 2019, the NLW will increase by 4.9% to £8.21. Whether that is to vote, to campaign or to stand for election, women must be there making the decisions.</p><p>Over the course of this year, the Centenary Fund has supported nearly 320 small and large projects. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 10/01/2019 answer text <p>In common with other such Plans which it has published, the EHRC’s Strategic Plan 2016-19 sets priority areas and intended actions for the Commission’s own work over the three years in question, but does not make recommendations either for Government or for other EHRC stakeholders. The relevant Priority Area (“Citizenship and Democracy”) of the EHRC’s Strategic Plan 2016-19 accordingly commits it to <em>“focus on delivering improvements in relation to political representation and civic participation; anti-extremism and anti-terrorism legislation and surveillance powers; and freedom of expression and freedom to associate in a trade union.”</em></p><p>The Government notes these commitments, but has not made an assessment of their merits in tackling the barriers facing women in politics and public life, or of whether they support aspects of the Equality Act 2010 such as Section 106.
