star this property answer text <br /><p>Non consolidated performance awards are paid to reward excellence and are given to no more than 25% of staff each year based on the relative assessment of performance against objectives throughout the reporting year. The awards are not pensionable and the values for each grade are set centrally and agreed by the Secretary of State as part of the annual pay remit.</p><br /><p>The Special Bonus Scheme (SBS) is discretionary and there is no limit on the number of people that can receive a cash award provided the award is approved within the policy, rules and guidance governing the SBS. Special Bonuses are not pensionable and are awarded for exceptional performance in a specific task or for the achievement of a professional qualification that benefits the Ministry of Defence and the individual. A Special Bonus can be awarded at any time. star this property answer text <p>The Ministry of Defence (MOD) pays over and above the National Living Wage, which was increased to £7.83 per hour in April 2018. The MOD has not formally signed up to the Living Wage Rates of £8.75 (National) and £10.20 (London), as defined by the Living Wage Foundation. In 2015 the then Secretary of State for Defence agreed that all London-based staff should be paid at least the equivalent of the Living Wage Foundation's London Living Wage rate. The MOD continues to pay above that rate.</p><p>As at 31 October 2018, a total of 9,965 MOD civilian staff were paid less than £10.20 per hour, of which a total of 1,757 were paid less than £8.75 per hour.</p> more like this
