The SFO investigates and prosecutes only the most serious or complex fraud, bribery and corruption cases.</del></p><p><del class="ministerial">The decision to commence an investigation is that of the Director alone. star this property answer text <p><del class="ministerial">Border Force delivery against Service Level Agreements, along with other performance indicators, is kept under constant review. Border Force seeks to provide an effective service at the border by achieving the right balance in its contribution to both the security and prosperity of the UK; objectives considered as complimentary and mutually supportive.</del></p><p><del class="ministerial">The Government is open to working with partners to enhance Border Force capability, whether that is through better targeted interventions, or improved service standards.</del></p><p><ins class="ministerial">As part of the negotiations the UK will discuss with the EU how best to continue cooperation in the important field of non-animal alternatives in scientific research.</ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial">Following the UK exiting the EU, UK legislation will fully retain the current requirement for the replacement of animal tests where practicable and the principles of the 3Rs (Replacement, Reduction and Refinement).</ins></p>

star this property answer text <p>In the period up to March 2018 Action Fraud recorded 277,561 crimes (Source: ONS – April 17 to March 18). The National Fraud Intelligence Bureau (NFIB), which analyses crimes recorded by Action Fraud, cannot directly task Regional Organised Crime Units.</p><p>In light of which crimes are allocated to forces as per the rules set out in the Home Office Counting Rules. In the same period (April 17 to March 18) the NFIB disseminated 53,574 crimes to Police forces (a), a further 120 crimes were sent direct to Regional Organised Crime Units as a result of the NFIB being aware of an ongoing investigation which was being undertaken by them.</p><p>A considerable number of the crimes will have been perpetrated by the same criminal group.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The National Economic Crime Centre (NECC) will deliver a step change in the UK's response to - and impact on economic crime, including bribery and corruption.</p><p>For the first time, the NECC brings together enforcement and justice agencies (HM Revenue and Customs, the City of London Police, the National Crime Agency, the Serious Fraud Office and the Crown Prosecution Service), other government departments, regulatory bodies and the private sector with a shared objective of driving down economic crime in the UK.</p><p>It will leverage the 'whole system' approach to enhance and coordinate our collective capabilities to target, pursue and dismantle the highest harm serious and organised criminals, including corrupt elites. star this property answer text <p>The UK continues to lead international efforts to prevent terrorist use of the internet. This includes working closely with the EU and other international partners to push industry to take a more proactive approach to detecting and removing terrorist content from their platforms, including by legislative means.</p><p>On 12 September, the European Commission announced a regulation to tackle terrorist content online. The UK has worked with the Commission and other Member States to ensure the proposed Regulation is ambitious and has meaningful impact on the problem.</p><p>If agreed, the Regulation would have direct effect in domestic law and as such, we do not consider that any changes to domestic law would be necessary. This would be dependent on the outcome of EU Exit negotiations.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Action Fraud provide online and telephone based services which enable the reporting of both fraud and cyber dependent crime.</p><p>Between October 2017 and September 2018 the service received 505,497 calls.</p><p>Of these callers, 314,668 callers spoke to a member of staff. The 190,829 callers that did not speak to a member of staff will include callers that chose to use the online service or callers who waited but did not receive an answer.</p><p>505,587 reports were made in this period, by phone or online, of which 318,629 were classified as crimes as set out in the Home Office Counting Rules. In the same period 57,181 crimes were disseminated for enforcement, by the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau (NFIB), which analyses reports of crime made via Action Fraud.
