star this property answer text <p> </p><p>The UK has allocated £2m to non-governmental organisations (NGOs) with UK operations who were already operating in Iraq.</p><p> </p><p>DFID has not received a request for funding in response to the current situation in Iraq from the Foundation for Relief and Reconciliation in the Middle East. For the financial year 2014/15 they will receive £8,070 from the MENA Conflict Pool. This is a project which has been running for a number of years and is not connected to our emergency response.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Myanmar Education Consortium (MEC) allocates support in response to calls for proposals. The first call, in November 2013, invited proposals from organisations in all of Burma’s states and regions. This was followed by a specific call on Education in Emergencies in June 2014. The 14 projects funded as a result of these first two calls are or will be operating in Ayeyarwady, Bago (East, West), Chin, Kachin, Kayah, Kayin, Magway, Mandalay, Naypyidaw, Rakhine, Sagaing, Shan (South, North), Tanintharyi, and Yangon. The next call for proposals is currently under development and is planned for 2015.</p><p> </p> more like this

Currently there are very limited data in most developing countries. star this property answer text <p> </p><p>DFID is working across Her Majesty's Government and with its international partners in education including the Global Partnership for Education to aim to ensure that, by 2030, all girls and boys completing primary education are able to read, write and count. We are also looking to be more ambitious by increasing the proportion of young women and young men with the technical and transferable skills to get decent jobs.</p><p>The main process to define a new goal for education is being led by UNESCO through its Education For All Steering Committee. The UK is represented by Norway and working closely with Norwegian counterparts to further our priorities.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p> </p><p>Women and girls' empowerment lies at the heart of the UK Government's development agenda. Our approach to addressing the impact of HIV on women and girls and the barriers to accessing information on sexual and reproductive healthcare is set out in the UK Government's 2011 HIV Position Paper and the recent review, “Towards Zero Infections-Two Years On”published in November 2013. For example, we are supporting the generation of new evidence to improve outcomes for women and girls, including supporting the development of female initiated HIV prevention technologies, research into how gender inequality drives epidemics and a particular focus on improving what works for adolescent girls in Southern Africa in accessing reproductive health needs.</p><p> </p> more like this
