	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 23/05/2019 answer text <p>‘Prevention is better than cure’, published by the Department in November 2018, highlighted the important role social prescribing can play in reducing people’s isolation and improving levels of activity.</p><p>As set out in the NHS Long Term Plan, NHS England has committed to deliver at least £4.5 billion of new investment in primary medical and community health services over the next five years. To encourage consistent data gathering and reporting of outcomes, NHS England has worked with a wide range of stakeholders to develop a Common Outcomes Framework for measuring the impact of social prescribing. Working with a wide range of stakeholders, a consensus has been built for all social prescribing connector schemes to measure a number of outcomes, including impact on the person. The aim of creating a National Academy is to build an evidence base and promote research into this important area, in order to help the National Health Service become a pioneer for social prescription.</p><p>Following a roundtable with a wide range of stakeholders held earlier this year, the Academy Management Board has been established to help shape the National Academy. The first meeting of the Board was held last month. A range of organisations are represented on the Board. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 13/12/2021 answer text <p>Each medical school in England sets its own undergraduate curriculum, which must meet the standards of the General Medical Council (GMC). Individual curricula may not identify specific conditions for doctors to be aware of, but the GMC would expect that, in fulfilling their standards, newly qualified doctors are able to identify, treat and manage any care needs, including where they might benefit from social prescribing.</p><p>The Department has supported the National Academy for Social Prescribing (NASP) to deliver its strategy to use social prescribing to connect people in local communities. With NHS England and NHS Improvement, the NASP has supported the Social Prescribing Student Champion Programme to deliver more than 750 teaching sessions across all United Kingdom medical schools and organise over 30 regional, national and international student conferences on social prescribing.
