Reducing domestic production would not reduce end use emissions but could lead to billions of pounds going abroad and lost British jobs and tax revenues. New licences slow the decline in UK oil and gas production, boosting the UK's energy security, rather than increasing production above current levels. The UK remains on track to meet net zero by 2050.</p><p> </p><p>The impact of North Sea exploration has been assessed by the UK Government in an Offshore Energy Strategic Environmental Assessment.</p>

star this property answer text <p>Energy suppliers can provide the Warm Home Discounts payments to their customers at any point until the end of March each scheme year, although in many cases it will be paid earlier. The timing of the payment will also depend on how each customer pays for their energy.</p><p> </p><p>While most households will receive their rebate automatically, without having to apply, this approach enables further households to be identified as eligible through manual means and allows energy suppliers time to resolve any issues with the Instructions to Pay. Therefore, the Government has not considered bringing forward the payment deadline.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Government of Ukraine is responsible for negotiations with Russia on the exchange of Prisoners of War and we are working closely with the Ukrainians to secure the release of all British National Prisoners of War held by Russian proxies in eastern Ukraine. The UK Government is also in regular contact with international partners, including NATO Allies, about violations of International Humanitarian Law by Russia and Russian proxies, including their treatment of Prisoners of War and civilian detainees. British Nationals detained by Russian forces and its proxies must be treated in accordance with International Humanitarian Law, including the Geneva Conventions. The UK Government has raised this issue with the Russian authorities and reminded them of their obligations under International Humanitarian Law.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Great.gov.uk is a digital platform with a suite of digital tools built to help UK businesses expand their reach overseas and secure their place on the global stage.</p><p>UK and overseas marketing activity and DIT’s commercial partnerships are used to promote the platform.</p><p>In the 14 months since great.gov.uk was launched in November 2016, great.gov.uk has been visited by nearly 2.8 million unique users. Of these:</p><p> </p><ul><li>The Invest tool, which promotes the UK as an obvious destination for inward investment, has received over 764,000 online visits with over 1,200 enquiries</li><li>The Export Opportunities tool has received over 67,000 responses from UK businesses to 13,000 published export opportunities, which have been gathered and published by our network of in-post Embassy and High Commission trade experts, as well as overseas partner stakeholders</li><li>The Trade Profile tool has published over 2,600 verified UK business profiles, presenting them to a wide network of prospective overseas buyers and partners</li><li>The Export Readiness tool, which went live in December 2017 and helps UK businesses see how export-ready they are, and presents them with tailored information has already been used by 710 companies.</li></ul><p> </p><p>Activity is planned to promote this platform further to the UK and overseas businesses.</p>

star this property answer text <p>Between 2018 and 2023, the Government ran a series of compliance and enforcement pilots and competitions to support local authorities in enforcing the domestic private rented sector Minimum Energy Efficiency Standard (MEES) regulations. 104 local authorities took part with £8.4m provided to help them carry out effective compliance assurance and enforcement of the MEES regulations in their area.</p><p> </p><p>The Government consulted in 2020 on proposals to improve the energy performance of privately rented homes. The consultation included proposals to encourage compliance with MEES Regulations and strengthen the enforcement regime. A summary of responses to this consultation will be published by the end of this year.</p> more like this
