This necessary diversion of resources resulted in the reduction in cost recovery and commercial income, as well as additional government funding and spend on:</p><ul><li>establishing an inbound enquiry service to offer advice and guidance to both employers and employees;</li><li>undertaking proactive spot checks and inspections, to ensure workplaces are COVID-secure;</li><li>leading a <a href="https://eur03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https://sites.manchester.ac.uk/covid19-national-project/research-themes/&amp;data=04|01|Andrew.Holding@hse.gov.uk|f945354f351c4263cb5d08d905872ddf|6b5953be6b1d4980b26b56ed8b0bf3dc|0|0|637546900414459399|Unknown|TWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0=|1000&amp;sdata=WIzMmwZjMkTC45Al47VkHQMtzOb35xQcDzeez11okyw=&amp;reserved=0" target="_blank">COVID-19 national core study</a> on the transmission of the virus in the environment, including in workplaces, transport and other public settings.</li></ul>
