star this property answer text <p>The information requested is not readily available and to provide it would incur disproportionate cost, as we do not currently forecast at constituency level.</p><p> </p><p>The national rollout of Universal Credit will complete in December 2018. During 2019 we will test and refine our processes on a small scale to ensure they are working well before we take on larger volumes from 2020 onwards, and complete the process in 2023.</p><p> </p><p>No more than 10,000 claimants will be migrated in 2019.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Department works closely with the Department for Education (DfE) to assist it deliver its Free School Meals policy.</p><p> </p><p>DWP has a Service Level Agreement (SLA) with DfE over the transfer of data from the Universal Credit system to the Passported Benefits Eligibility checking system. Data is received from the Universal Credit system, on a daily basis. This means that the data is at most 23 hours and 59 minutes old, depending on when the claimant / agent last updated the record.</p><p> </p><p>If a claimant has an open Universal Credit full service claim their take home pay is compared against the earning threshold. As a safeguard for claimants who have fluctuating earnings, the take-home pay is checked going back up to 3 months. In these cases, the take-home pay is aggregated to give an amount for use in the eligibility calculation.</p><p> </p><p>DfE have processes in place to inform and deal with delays to ensure no claimants lose out as a result of this.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Under the legacy system £2.4 billion of benefits did not get paid at all because claimants could not navigate the complexity of the system. Universal Credit puts this right, ensuring this money goes to 700,000 claimants who need it.</p><p> </p><p>There are many and varied reasons why people use food banks and it is misleading to link this to any single cause. People on Universal Credit move into work faster and stay in work longer. Work offers families the best opportunity to move out of poverty and Universal Credit strengthens incentives for parents to move into and progress in work. There are 300,000 fewer children in absolute poverty compared with 2010 – a record low.</p> more like this

However, we recognise that some will need help.</p><p> </p><p>For those requiring help, assistance is available through Universal Support. On 1 October 2018 we announced the Department’s new partnership with Citizens Advice (and Citizens Advice Scotland) to provide an improved nationwide Universal Support.</p><p> </p><p>Assisted Digital Support, which is a component of Universal Support, provides help, support and skills claimants need to make and maintain their digital account online. Further support is offered via training courses which claimants are referred to by their work coaches.</p><p> </p><p>Additionally, all jobcentres across the country have Wi-Fi and computers available for claimants to access the internet. For those few that are still unable to access or use digital services, or are not able to travel, assistance to make and maintain their claim is available vial the Freephone UC helpline. The UC Service Centre will establish the best means of support available, and in exceptional circumstances, a home visit can be arranged to support a claimant in making and maintaining their claim.</p>

star this property answer text <p>DWP procedures require non-UK nationals to provide proof of their UK immigration status upon application for an income related benefit. This may be in the form of a Home Office Biometric Residence Permit or a valid passport or visa stamped by the Home Office granting leave to remain and recourse to public funds. Claimants who provide proof of UK immigration status with recourse to claim public funds are eligible to claim DWP income-related benefits on the same basis as UK citizens.</p><p> </p><p>Biometric Residency Permits were introduced by the Home Office in December 2012. As of 31 May 2015 new regulations require non-EEA nationals, seeking permission from overseas to enter the UK for more than six months to apply for a Biometric Residence Permit from the Home Office.</p><p> </p><p>The Department does not centrally collect statistical information categorised by the type of immigration status document provided and the information requested could only be provided at disproportionate cost.</p>

star this property answer text <p>Universal Credit (UC) seeks to take earnings into account in a way that is fair and transparent. The amount of UC paid reflects, as closely as possible, the actual circumstances of a household each monthly assessment period, including any earnings reported by the employer during that assessment period, regardless of when they were paid or which month they relate to. Monthly reporting allows UC to be adjusted on a monthly basis, which ensures that if a claimant's income falls, that they will not have to wait several months for a rise in their UC award.</p><p> </p> more like this
