star this property answer text <p>The Girl Summit, hosted by the Prime Minister and UNICEF in July 2014, underlined the United Kingdom’s leadership in stamping out forced marriage and female genital mutilation (FGM).</p><p>We made forced marriage a criminal offence and the first conviction was secured last month. We also introduced a package of new measures to tackle FGM through the Serious Crime Act 2015 including victim anonymity, mandatory reporting of FGM, a new offence of parental liability and the introduction of FGM protection orders.</p><p>The Government recognises that legislation alone is not enough to tackle FGM and forced marriage, and our specialist FGM and Forced Marriage Units lead and deliver wide-ranging prevention and awareness-raising work.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Home Department currently holds two contracts with Teleperformance Ltd.</p><p>The Next Generation Outsourced Visa Services contract, which has a total value of £33.3 million exc. VAT per annum for a maximum of 9 years and a minimum of 5 years. This contract is for the provision of services (to supplement the Home Department’s own in-house resources and services) for the support and delivery of the Home Department’s visa application services in 79 countries across Africa and Europe.</p><p>The Contact Centre Services contract for Her Majesty’s Passport Office, which has a total value of £10 million exc. VAT per annum for a maximum of 5 years and a minimum of 3 years. This contract is for the provision of contact centre services for phone and e-mail contacts from UK and International passport customers.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Sue Langley, OBE and Alan Brown are the non-executive members of the Home Office Board.</p><p>Sue Langley is currently the CEO of the Government's UK Financial Services Investment Organisation. She is a Non Executive Director for UKAR (Northern Rock Asset Management and Bradford and Bingley) and Chairman of the Remuneration Committee.</p><p>Previously she was Director of Market Development and a member of the Executive Team for Lloyd's of London, a Director of Lloyd’s Asia and Chairman of Lloyd’s Japan. Prior to this Sue was Chief Operating Officer and a member of the executive team for the Hiscox Group, holding various board positions. She joined Hiscox from PriceWaterhouseCoopers where she was a Principal Consultant and worked with a range of FTSE 100 companies. Sue is a representative on the Women's Business Council. She is a Vice President of the Insurance Institute of London.</p><p>Alan Brown is currently Chief Executive Officer at ASCO – an international oilfield support services company and a global provider of outsourced logistics services to the oil and gas industry. He is a non- executive director of Intertek, the FTSE 100-listed testing inspection and certification business.</p><p>Previously, Alan was Chief Executive Officer of Rentokil Initial plc for five years until October 2013. Alan spent 25 years at Unilever plc, in various roles in the UK and Europe and then CEO of Unilever’s operations in Taiwan and then China. Following this, Alan returned to the UK as Chief Financial Officer at Imperial Chemical Industries plc.</p>

star this property answer text <p>The number of officials working in the Home Office is recorded at the end of each month; therefore the numbers of officials provided in tables 1 and 2 is as on 31 December in 2009 and 2014.</p><p> </p><p>It is important to note as context that Machinery of Government changes have taken place during this period, including 4,639 FTE officials transferring from HMRC to join the Home Office on 1st April 2010 to undertake functions previously carried out by HMRC. Excluding these machinery changes, the Home Office reduced the number of staff by almost 2000 officials by 2014 compared to 2010.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Each Department reports its sick leave to Cabinet Office as part of a twelve month rolling year figure; this allows for comparisons to be made across the civil service, taking into account both the size and employee profile of each Department.</p><p>In 2014 176,665 working days were lost due to sick absence, an average working days lost of 6.88 per staff year. The Department was amongst the best across government when compared to other 'large' and 'very large' Departments and the civil service average was 7.4 for the same period.</p> more like this
