	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 20/02/2024 answer text <p>The Government is committed to tackling modern slavery to ensure that victims are provided with the support they need to begin rebuilding their lives and that those responsible are prosecuted.</p><p>The Home Office continues to fund specialist support for adult victims of modern slavery in England and Wales through the £379 million Modern Slavery Victim Care Contract and for children, who receive support through local authority safeguarding structures, we are also continuing to work with Barnardo’s to provide additional and tailored support through the Independent Child Trafficking Guardian service.</p><p>Since 2016, in addition to core police funding, we have invested £17.8 million in the Modern Slavery and Organised Immigration Crime Unit, a specialist police unit which supports all police forces in England and Wales to improve their response to modern slavery.</p><p>In addition, between 2016 and March 2023, the Home Office spent over £40.4 million through the Modern Slavery Fund to combat modern slavery overseas and reduce the threat of human trafficking to the UK. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 19/10/2016 answer text <p>The Government is committed to increasing compliance with National Minimum Wage (NMW) legislation and the effective enforcement of it. HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) respond to every complaint they receive and conducts risk-based enforcement in sectors or areas where there is perceived to be a higher risk of workers not being paid the legal minimum wage.</p><p> </p><p>In 2015/16 HMRC identified £10.3m or arrears owed to over 58,000 workers, and this year we have increased the NMW enforcement budget to £20m, up from £13m in 2015/16. We have also made penalties tougher, so that non-compliant employers now face a penalty equivalent to 200% of the arrears they owe, up to a maximum penalty of £20,000 per worker.</p><p> </p><p>Employers are named publically under the Government’s NMW naming scheme for non-payment. The first year is school-based initial teacher training (ITT) where trainees teach a reduced hours timetable; the second year is teaching as a newly-qualified teacher (NQT). Its focus is on bringing into teaching high-quality graduates who are trained to make an impact on children’s attainment over the two-year duration of the scheme.</p><p> </p><p>In the 2014 cohort, 1,387 trainees started Summer Institute training.
