As a responsible Government, we have been preparing to minimise any disruption in the event of no deal for more than two years.</p><p> </p><p>The Public Information Campaign [GOV.UK] and our international information campaign on great.gov.uk give businesses in the UK and Europe the information they need to prepare for EU Exit. It includes technical notices on trade remedies, existing free trade agreements and UK trade tariffs after EU Exit. More widely, the Department of International Trade teams in Europe have been reassuring European businesses that the UK remains open for business; that we remain an advocate for free trade and open markets; and that the UK will continue to be an important trading partner for European businesses after we leave the EU.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>UK-EU trade supports many jobs in both the UK and the EU. That is why it is in the interests of both sides to maintain trading links once the UK has left the EU; to protect jobs and our economy while allowing us to honour the referendum and realise the opportunities of Brexit.</p><p>The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) publish estimates on trade in employment, including on the amount of jobs linked to exports. Their most recent data from 2011 estimates that 3.4 million jobs were linked to UK exports across the EU. star this property answer text <p>If the UK leaves the EU without a deal, businesses will need to have a UK Economic Operator Registration and Identification (EORI) number to trade goods in to or out of the UK. Since December 2018, through to 14 July 2019, HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has issued 66,000 EORI numbers, which are still live. HMRC has issued UK EORI numbers to all traders who registered for a number and did not already possess one at the time of their registration. HMRC does not hold data on how many of these traders are cross-Channel transport companies.</p><p> </p> more like this

HM Revenue &amp; Customs initially wrote to businesses who trade with the EU in December 2018, asking them to register for a UK EORI number. Using 2018 trade in goods data, HM Revenue and Customs estimate that around two thirds of the total value of trade undertaken only with the EU was carried out by VAT registered businesses which solely trade with the EU, and which have now registered for an EORI number.</p> more like this
