As part of that evidence gathering process most people will be asked to attend a face-to-face consultation with a trained, independent assessor. Such a consultation gives individuals the opportunity to put across their own views of the impact of their health condition or impairment on their everyday lives. However, we accept that face-to-face consultations may not be appropriate in every case and if there is enough evidence then the claimant will not be asked to attend a consultation. Healthcare Professionals are medically qualified professionals who have previous clinical experience of communicating with individuals who have varied conditions.</p><p> </p><p>All Healthcare Professionals receive comprehensive training in disability analysis which includes communication skills and understanding the communication needs of those with specific disabilities. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 09/11/2017 answer text <p>Decisions on whether an assessment can be undertaken based on the paper evidence alone, or via a face-to-face consultation, are made by a Healthcare Professional on a case by case basis and are not dependent on a claimant’s condition, except for those people who are applying under the terminally ill provisions. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 30/10/2017 answer text <p>The purpose of Personal Independence Payment (PIP) is to provide a tax-free, cash contribution of up to £141.10 a week towards the additional cost which disabled people face. PIP is a part of the wide range of other financial and practical support that may be available depending on individual circumstances.</p><p>To date, there is a higher proportion of people on the top rates of Personal Independence Payment than there were on DLA – 29 per cent vs 15 per cent.</p><p>We will continue to closely monitor developments across the health and disability landscape and engage with stakeholders to improve the service we provide.
