	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 21/03/2019 answer text <p>West Midlands Trains will be introducing a through-service from Nuneaton to Leamington via Coventry and Kenilworth, from May of this year. These will be operated by the class 172 units that are newer and provide more capacity than the existing class 153 that operates on that route.</p><p> </p><p>As part of the upgrades to the Nuneaton to Leamington Spa route (known as the “NUCKLE” project), two new stations at Bermuda Park and Ricoh Arena have already been built and are open. The next phase, being taken forward by Coventry City Council, will see a bay platform at Coventry Station constructed as part of the wider station masterplan. This will allow two trains per hour to run between Coventry and Nuneaton. DfT is contributing £5m towards the cost of the bay platform, with the balance from local sources.</p><p> </p><p>As part of the Midlands Rail Hub business case, Midlands Connect are working with the Department and local partners to update the business case for enhancing capacity between Leamington and Coventry through the partial re-doubling of the line. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 10/01/2019 answer text <p>The Department sets carbon trajectory targets in franchise agreements to encourage industry to deliver greener trains which could include hydrogen.</p><p> </p><p>The Department has also challenged the Industry to report on the options for having no more diesel only trains on the rail network by 2040. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 07/01/2019 answer text <p>On 6 December, Government and industry published the Rail Sector Deal to strengthen collaboration and improve the productivity of the sector. The Government will take steps to provide even greater certainty to the rail industry about the profile of future spending, to give enhanced confidence to the industry to invest in Research &amp; Development, people and skills. The industry is committed to: refreshing the Rail Sector Skills Delivery Plan; running a pilot in the Midlands to encourage SMEs both to increase the uptake of apprenticeships in the rail industry and to test how shared apprenticeships can work; a schools engagement programme to better target the promotion and attraction that rail companies undertake; and conduct a feasibility study for a Digital Railway Academy. East Midlands Trains, part of the Stagecoach Group, has also become the first train operator to trial the UK’s first level 3 Train Driver Apprenticeship Programme as part of the National Driver Academy. This is a project which will recruit a new generation of drivers with the skills and management to provide passengers with better, more reliable journeys.</p><p> </p><p>In 2016 DfT set ambitions through the Transport Infrastructure Skills Strategy to increase apprenticeships in road and rail bodies to help address skills shortages in the transport sector and ensure that the transport sector has the capacity and capability to deliver planned investment.</p><p> </p><p>DfT works in collaboration with employers across the sector through an industry body, The Strategic Transport Apprenticeship Taskforce (STAT) to deliver these ambitions. Network Rail, HS2, the Rail Delivery Group, the National Skills Academy for Rail and TfL are members of STAT. So far, over 5000 apprenticeships have been created in road and rail bodies. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 10/12/2018 answer text <p>The Department for Transport (DfT) does not hold estimates of the number of rail passengers who have been delayed by (i) at least thirty minutes, (ii) one hour or more, or (iii) more than two hours each year since 2010.</p><p> </p><p>However, DfT recently published (1 October) the compensation amounts paid by TOCs to passengers for delayed journeys since 2009. The exceptions were 2012, for which the estimate is 230, and the provisional results for 2015, for which the estimate is 220. Once uncertainty is taken into account the figure should be regarded as being unchanged since 2010.
