star this property answer text <p>In our response to the Committee in July, the Government committed to a range of significant actions designed to improve the lives and experiences of transgender people.</p><p>We agree with the Committee that issues raised are serious and complex. That is why we are engaging with stakeholders to make sure any changes we make are based on evidence and user needs.</p><p>On the action plans specifically, we are in the process of collating updates and will publish a summary in 2017.</p><p>On reforms to the Gender Recognition Act, we’ve been engaging with ministers on how to take this commitment forward and we have begun our stakeholder engagement programme by meeting the Gender Recognition Panel.</p><p>We will provide an update on the Government’s progress in 2017.</p> more like this

These included LGBT organisations, women’s groups, faith organisations, refuges and domestic violence campaign groups, local government, campaign organisations such as Woman’s Place UK, unions, transgender charities, government departments and other European governments. Gendered Intelligence were one of these groups.</p><p> </p><p>The Government Equalities Office is physically based in the Department for Education building in Westminster. star this property answer text <p>From 3 July to 22 October 2018, the Government ran a public consultation on reforming the Gender Recognition Act 2004 in order to make the gender recognition process less bureaucratic and intrusive for the people that use it.</p><p> </p><p>We received over 100,000 responses to the consultation and we are now working to analyse these. star this property answer text <p>The Government is dedicated to promoting the equal rights of women and of transgender individuals.</p><p>In our work to review the Gender Recognition Act we are monitoring the implementation of alternative gender recognition processes in other jurisdictions and we are analysing the evidence placed before the Women and Equalities Committee. We are considering single-sex and other public services as part of the review.</p><p>All public authorities have to comply with the requirements of the Equality Act 2010 and the Public Sector Equality Duty in the development of policy, commissioning and provision of services. This includes paying due regard not only to the needs of men and women but also transgender individuals. We will comply with these requirements in all our work.</p><p> </p> more like this
