HM Treasury is exploring a CBDC as part of its wider ongoing work on FinTech and the future of payments.</p><p> </p><p>The government and the Bank of England have not yet made a decision on whether to introduce a CBDC in the UK.</p><p> </p><p>On 9 November 2021, the government published a written statement setting out its future timelines for this work, including an upcoming joint consultation from HM Treasury and the Bank of England setting out their assessment of the case for a UK CBDC.</p> more like this
