star this property answer text <p>As the Chancellor set out at the 2019 Spring Statement on 13 March, early stage negotiations for a Derry/Londonderry and Strabane City Region Deal are progressing well. The Government hopes to make an announcement in due course.</p><p> </p><p>Building on the Chancellor’s commitment to £350m towards the Belfast City Regions Deal in October, the Government is working closely with local partners and the Northern Ireland Civil Service to move to the next phase of the Deal and hopes to be in a position to agree Heads of Terms in due course.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Government has set out several public commitments, including in the Budget and in the Confidence and Supply Agreement, to work towards a ‘comprehensive and ambitious’ set of City Deals across Northern Ireland.</p><p> </p><p>Negotiations have been opened for a Belfast City Regions deal; however, a timetable has not been set to deliver a City Deal for Belfast or for Londonderry. A timetable cannot be agreed until proposals are completed and submitted to Government. Officials from across Whitehall and the Northern Ireland Civil Service have been engaging with partners on their proposals.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>City Deals are long-term financial commitments to a programme of capital investment that will drive economic growth and productivity in line with the key priorities of City Regions.</p><p> </p><p>The Chancellor has announced that the Belfast City Region will receive £350m of UK funding to support the development of the digital and innovation sector.</p><p> </p><p>The next steps for Belfast City Region, the UK Government, and the NICS, include a period of work drafting the full business cases which will act as a basis on which to deliver the Belfast City Deal.</p><p> </p><p>Regarding Derry/Londonderry and Strabane, the Chancellor has reaffirmed our commitment to commencing negotiations on this City Deal and we are looking forward to doing so.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Devolved Territory City Deals are locally developed proposals to address specific regional economic challenges that result in long term funding commitments jointly from UK Government, Devolved Government and local partners such as the Councils and Universities. The intention is that the initiatives taken forward will lever in significant private sector investment and deliver step changes in local economic productivity and growth.</p><p>This Government has committed to a comprehensive and ambitious set of city deals across Northern Ireland and at Autumn Budget, the Chancellor announced a £350 million for a Belfast City Region Deal to boost investment and productivity, generating jobs, growth and prosperity, alongside the opening formal negotiations for a Derry/Londonderry and Strabane City Region Deal.</p><p>The Belfast Region have estimated that their growth proposals could deliver almost 20,000 jobs, with an annual GVA impact of £470million and create a Belfast Region that is not just self-sufficient but a driver for a rejuvenated NI economy. Proposals for the Derry/ Londonderry and Strabane City region deal are currently under development by local partners and will also include an assessment on their potential effect on the economy of Northern Ireland.</p><p> </p>

star this property answer text <p>This Government has committed to a comprehensive and ambitious set of city deals across Northern Ireland to boost investment and help unlock Northern Ireland’s full potential.</p><p> </p><p>We have opened negotiations with local partners in the Belfast City Regions on a possible Deal and the Chancellor has invited Derry &amp; Strabane District Council to also submit their proposals for a City Deal.</p><p> </p><p>Both regions are working intensively alongside the NICS and UK Government to develop bids that will seek to deliver step changes in economic productivity and growth and I look forward to reviewing their proposals in the near future.</p> more like this
