	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 12/05/2014 answer text <p> </p><p>Concerns about under-representation of attainers were raised following the introduction of individual registration in Northern Ireland in 2002. The registration of attainers improved significantly with the introduction of the Chief Electoral Officer's Schools Initiative. The Electoral Commission's 2012 report on continuous electoral registration in Northern Ireland estimated that 66% of attainers were registered.</p><p>Although the number of attainers registered in December 2013 fell to 9,945 from 11,477 in December 2012, the Electoral Commission's recent report on the electoral registration canvass suggests that this can be partially explained by the fact that the Electoral Office did not conduct any activity with schools to register attainers in autumn 2013 due to canvass activity. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 20/11/2017 answer text <p>The Civil Service has set out five priorities for the health and wellbeing of its employees, including priorities in relation to physical and mental wellbeing. In addition, the Civil Service has also committed to being a leading employer on mental health support, in line with the recommendations set out in the recently published independent review <em>Thriving At Work</em>.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>The Northern Ireland Office is able to access a number of services, including welfare support and employee assistance programmes, through our links with the Ministry of Justice. Specific support for staff who have mental health issues include:</p><p> </p><ul><li>An independent Employee Assistance Provision that provides confidential counselling sessions for employees, 24 hour telephone support, coaching for managers, mediation and group counselling;</li></ul><p> </p><ul><li>Access to an internet Wellbeing Zone which contains wellbeing advice, fact sheets and videos on managing stress, healthy eating and healthy lifestyle choices. This is also part of our Employee Assistance Provision;</li></ul><p> </p><ul><li>An Occupational Health provider that offers medical advice for managers supporting employees with mental health issues;</li></ul><p> </p><ul><li>An attendance management system that is aligned with our wellbeing strategy and encourages proactive interventions for employees with mental health issues, including prompt Occupational Health referrals with a view to ensuring that supportive measures and reasonable adjustments are identified and implemented promptly;</li></ul><p> </p><ul><li>An individual Stress Assessment process; and</li></ul><p> </p><ul><li>Toolkits for managers which recognise the links between musculoskeletal illnesses and mental health conditions.</li></ul><p> </p><p>In addition, more recently, the Northern Ireland Office ran Resilience Workshops in the summer of 2017, launched Wellbeing pages on the departmental Intranet in October 2017 signposting resources to support wellbeing, offered stress awareness sessions for all staff in November 2017 and currently operates walking groups in both Belfast and London locations.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p> answering member constituency Norwich North answering member printed Chloe Smith question first answered 20/11/2017 11:47:27 answering member 1609 label Biography information for Chloe Smith

But tackling social mobility is one of the UK Government’s key priorities. We want all young people, regardless of their background or where they grow up, to get the best start in life and have every chance to go as far as their talents and ambition will take them.</p><p> </p><p>The UK Government is helping the people of Northern Ireland by keeping taxes low, freezing fuel duty for the eight successive year and increasing the National Living Wage again from April 2018, delivering a £600 annual pay-rise to full-time workers in Northern Ireland. Moreover, we have increased again the personal allowance for income tax and higher rate threshold which will benefit over 745,000 people in Northern Ireland who will have gained by an average of £182, compared to 2015-16. Furthermore, there are 41,000 more people in work in Northern Ireland than in 2010 and unemployment is at 3.9%, down from 7.1% in 2010.
