star this property answer text <p>The Government is focusing the Building Safety Fund on remediating high-rise buildings. This reflects the exceptional fire risk that certain cladding products pose at that height, as previously noted by Dame Judith Hackitt. Under 18 metres, the risk profile of buildings is different and will not always require the same level of remediation when risks are identified. We will provide leaseholders in lower-rise residential buildings between 11 and 18 metres (four to six storeys), with a generous new scheme to provide access to finance for cladding remediation. No leaseholder in residential buildings of 11-18 metres will need to pay more than £50 a month to remediate unsafe cladding.</p><p>Government support does not absolve building owners of their responsibility to ensure their buildings are safe, and they should consider all routes to meet costs, protecting leaseholders where they can - for example through warranties and recovering costs from contractors for incorrect or poor work. We have provided expert advice on the measures building owners should take to ensure their buildings are safe.</p>
