star this property answer text <p>The UK has strong ties with Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Pakistan, which we value and reinforce through regular defence engagement, exercises and training courses.</p><p>The Ministry of Defence Permanent Secretary visited Islamabad in March 2019 for the annual Defence Cooperation Forum with Pakistan and regular dialogue continues at senior military level. The Pakistan National Defence University visited the UK earlier this year. Bangladesh also held a National Defence College visit.</p><p>Defence relations with Sri Lanka were significantly strengthened in 2019 by the appointment of a resident Defence Adviser.</p><p>HMS Dragon visited Karachi in February 2019 as part of Exercise AMAN, in which Sri Lanka and Bangladesh were also involved. HMS Montrose visited Colombo in April 2019 as part of her deployment in the Indian Ocean and conducted a short exercise with the Sri Lankan Navy.</p><p>In addition to bespoke training programmes, Bangladeshi and Pakistani cadets are attending the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in 2018-19, and there are members of the Royal College of Defence Studies from all three countries.</p>

star this property answer text <p>It is not possible to identify a single unit cost for an Astute Class submarine as Boats one to three (Astute, Ambush, and Artful) were contracted as a batch, with the rest of the class subject to separate contractual arrangements. However, as an example of the main costs involved, the whole-boat contract for Agincourt, the seventh and last boat in the class, announced in May 2018, was £1.5 billion. This covers the totality of work involved in the boat build, including test and commissioning. The procurement costs include initial support provisioning, however, in-service support costs of a submarine will vary with the individual platform material state. These costs form part of wider submarine maintenance contracts and are not easily identifiable separately and could be provided only at disproportionate cost.</p> more like this

All aircraft are operated and maintained in accordance with the Air System Document Set, which includes the Operator's Maintenance Plan. star this property answer text <p>The Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) at Porton Down, Wiltshire, is licensed by the Home Office to conduct the Ministry of Defence's in-house research involving the use of animals.</p><p>In 2017 and 2018, no animals were used in scientific procedures at Dstl Porton Down under a multiple generic licence. Dstl does not hold licences of this type.</p><p>Animals are used in experiments to develop new vaccines, therapies and treatments that save the lives of UK military and can benefit civilians. Chemical and biological weapons are a real and present threat. That is why Dstl continues its vital work in providing better protection against the use of these agents and against conventional threats.</p> more like this
