star this property answer text
The UK Naval Support Facility (UK NSF) in the Kingdom of Bahrain demonstrates our strong and enduring bilateral relationship. It supports our deployed naval force in the Gulf, providing maritime security for Bahrain, the wider region, and the global economy. The facility provides engineering and logistics support to maritime units, and can host contingent forces for short periods. Through our presence at the UK NSF, the Royal Navy benefits from sustained use of Mina Salman Port which enables our personnel and vessels to undertake naval operations in the Gulf, the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean. The UK maintains a long-standing maritime presence in the Gulf, currently including four Mine Counter Measure Vessels (HMS LEDBURY, HMS BLYTH, HMS SHOREHAM, and HMS BROCKLEBY), two Type 23 frigates (HMS MONTROSE, HMS KENT), two Royal Fleet Auxiliary vessels (RFA CARDIGAN, RFA WAVE KNIGHT) and one Type 45 Destroyer (HMS DEFENDER). These vessels regularly use the UK NSF.
more like this

Friend the Defence Secretary has also spoken with the Turkish Defence Minister, Hulisi Akar on 10 and 16 October 2019. Whilst we accept that Turkey has legitimate security concerns, unilateral military action is undermining the stability and security of the region and could derail the Coalition's fight against Daesh.

For decades, Turkey has been a staunch ally in NATO and one of the largest contributors of military personnel. star this property answer text
As the hon. Member will be aware, fishery protection is a devolved responsibility, therefore within Scottish waters it is the responsibility of the Scottish Fisheries Protection Agency.

The Royal Navy does not maintain vessels exclusively employed for fishery patrol activities; however, it does have and operate River Class Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPVs), which conduct fishery patrol tasking alongside their other Defence tasks. These OPVs are used to fulfil the Royal Navy's commitments under the Memorandum of Understanding between the Royal Navy and the Marine Management Organisation (MMO).

As a part of Government's preparations to leave the European Union the MMO, the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), The Royal Navy and other bodies assessed the probability of an increase in illegal fishing and the uplift required to patrol English and Welsh waters. The result was a predicted uplift of sea hours from 2000 to 6000, and an increase in presence around the UK. To that extent it is Defence's intent to have two OPVs at sea come 31 October conducting Fishery Protection/Marine Enforcement tasking. They will be joined by two further contracted MMO vessels and the Devolved Administration's own vessels. In addition, the Royal Navy maintains a number of high readiness forces in UK waters that could be called upon to assist if requested.
