star this property answer text <p>Section 4 of the Ministerial and other Pensions and Salaries Act 1991 sets out Ministers' entitlement to severance payments. Any such payments are published in each department's audited annual accounts, and these accounts can be found in the Ministry of Defence Annual Report and Account Index where the severance pay for the right hon. Member for South Staffordshire will be published in 2020. As detailed in Section 4 of the Ministerial and other Pensions and Salaries Act 1991:</p><p>'the amount of the payment to which a person who has ceased to hold a relevant office is entitled under this section is an amount equal to one-quarter of the annual amount of the salary which was being paid to that person in respect of that office immediately before the material time.'</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Her Majesty's Government will continue to exceed the NATO target of spending 2% of GDP on defence and increase the budget by at least 0.5 above inflation every year. The UK is one of only a handful of nations that meets the 2% target, and we remain the largest European Defence spender in NATO. The Integrated Review will consider all aspects of international policy from defence to diplomacy and development. It is too early to discuss specifics, but I can assure you that this country will maintain the strength of our world class Armed Forces.</p> more like this

Defence has integrated this into our military planning alongside the full range of military effects. We will continue to develop and exploit Offensive Cyber’s potential to complement and enhance our conventional military capabilities and assets.</p><p> </p><p>Offensive Cyber has already demonstrated its utility, against Daesh, where the UK suppressed Daesh propaganda, hindered their ability to coordinate attacks, and protected coalition forces on the battlefield.</p><p> </p><p>For reasons of safeguarding national security, I cannot discuss our cyber capability in greater detail or be specific on how it is employed.</p> more like this

A key objective of the National Shipbuilding Strategy is to improve the competitiveness of the UK shipbuilding industry.</p><p>I am working with the Maritime Enterprise Working Group to identify measures needed to improve competitiveness and productivity, enabling industry to step up and improve their chances of success when bidding for both UK and international shipbuilding contracts. star this property answer text <p>HMS DRAGON and HMS ENTERPRISE have both recently operated in the Black Sea conducting a highly successful programme of regional defence engagement activity with Georgia, Ukraine and Romania. This included joint exercising with the Ukrainian and Romanian Navies to share expertise and knowledge, as well as delivery of a package of maritime interdiction training to the Georgian Coastguard. This is a further demonstration of the UK’s ability to provide reassurance to allies and partners, as well as a deterrent effect across the Euro-Atlantic area.</p> more like this
