The skills, education and training an Armed Forces career provides allows people the opportunity to progress and prosper not just while they serve, but also once they transition back into civilian life.</p><p>With over 50,000 apprenticeships during this Parliament, the Ministry of Defence are the UK's largest apprenticeship provider. Accordingly, a history of a number of medical conditions are a bar to Service.</p><p>Sleepwalking poses a risk of injury to personnel within the operational environment (such as a hostile land environment or the confines of a ship at sea), as the individual has no awareness of their situation or actions. Historically, these have incentivised candidates to join specific trades or to start training quickly.</p><p>The RPP has set aside some £885,000 to date, to incentivise candidates, who are able to do so, to start training quickly where there are anticipated spaces on training intakes. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 04/07/2019 answer text <p>In line with European Society of Cardiology guidelines, a transthoracic cardiac echo is used to detect significant structural (such as the various cardiomyopathies) and electrophysiological abnormalities (such as abnormal QT syndromes and Brugada syndrome) in Army recruits.</p><p>This follows a review of the recruit's full clinical history, a full clinical examination and electrocardiogram (ECG).</p><p>RAF and Royal Navy recruits undergo a similar screening process but without an ECG. The comprehensive 2017 Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy set out measures to further improve the psychological health of the Armed Forces, including a new operating model focusing on Promote, Prevent, Detect and Treat.</p><p> </p><p>Personnel in training receive the same mental health support as their fully-trained colleagues, including stress management training and a wide range of psychiatric and psychological treatments. Basic healthcare is available through Service primary care facilities, with treatment delivered primarily from a network of 20 permanent locations, comprising 11 Departments of Community Mental Health, six Mental Health Teams, and three locations with a permanent Community Mental Health Nurse. In-patient care is provided in dedicated psychiatric units through a central MOD contract with a partnership of eight NHS Trusts.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Personnel deployed to combat zones are supported by a GP-led healthcare team with access to a mental health nurse. In Iraq and Afghanistan, we deployed uniformed mental health nurses to deliver in-theatre care and treatment, and consultant psychiatrists visited periodically to provide clinical support. A permanent on-call consultant psychiatrist was available to provide specialist support by phone 24 hours a day, and a UK-based team of a psychiatrist and a mental health nurse was at immediate readiness to deploy to the operational theatre to support the local team if required.</p><p> </p><p>Trauma Risk Management (TRiM) is widely employed as a support model for deployed personnel. It aims to empower non-medical staff to spot those who might have been affected by traumatic events in order that their peers and leaders can provide them with appropriate support or, where it is required, to refer them for specialist help. The Armed Forces are committed to addressing this issue through a range of activities, including surveys and climate assessments, awareness campaigns, and training around equality, diversity, inclusion and values. Addressing this type of behaviour is also a leadership issue and covered in leadership training modules. In addition, each unit in the Armed Forces has at least one trained Equality and Diversity Inclusion Adviser, who has a key role in advising the Commanding Officer on Equality Legislation and, where incidents occur, providing advice to those involved on the option of informal resolution of the matter or submission of a Service complaint.</p><p>We recognise the great courage it takes to come forward and report sexual harassment. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 17/06/2019 answer text <p>The Armistice and Armed Forces Communities Programme was agreed by the Covenant Reference Group (CRG) as a funding priority for Financial Year 2018-19 which sat under the theme to '<em>fund projects which support</em> <em>measures to integrate military and civilian communities and allow the Armed Forces community to participate as citizens'. </em>The CRG set the overall priorities for funding, which the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust (AFCFT) deliver as programmes.</p><p>Under this programme, the AFCFT awarded silhouettes to over 2,700 community groups across the UK and these organisations were required to hold an event which brought together the military and civilian communities to recognise the significance of the Armed Forces community today.</p><p>There But Not There (encompassed in the charity 'Remembered') did not submit an application to the CRG nor to the AFCFT. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 12/06/2019 answer text <p>Since April 2007 (when offences started to be recorded on the Joint Personnel Administration system), no members of the Royal Navy or Royal Air Force have been investigated or discharged from Service as a result of membership of the named organisations.</p><p>During that time, less than five (this figure is rounded to avoid identification) members of the Army were investigated and discharged due to membership of National Action.</p><p>Extremist ideologies are completely at odds with the values and standards of the military. However, given concerns expressed by Defence Medical Services personnel and the well-publicised discussions in the NHS and the Department of Health and Social Care, the Ministry of Defence has consulted internally on pension taxation, including the issue of tapering.</p><p>We recognise the current situation with pension taxation (including tapered annual allowance) is a risk to retention and are monitoring any associated increase in the outflow of personnel.
