star this property answer text <p>Within Defence, vaccinations are administered under the principles of informed consent. For some operational deployments and roles all personnel must be vaccinated either to manage medical risks, maintain critical capabilities, or if a host nation requires it as a condition of entry.</p><p>Those refusing or unable to take a COVID-19 vaccine may be ineligible to deploy or undertake certain roles, and we would seek to identify an alternate role for those affected.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>As at 5 July 2021, 54,742 UK Armed Forces personnel had no record of having received a COVID-19 vaccination (based on those Defence Medical Services entitled personnel in service as at 1 May 2021).</p><p>As at 1 July 2021, 5,200 Regular and Reservist Armed Forces personnel were reported as absent from work because of COVID-19 self-isolation.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Having plans and resources in place, coupled with effective military aid to civil authorities (MACA) mechanisms was key to delivering Defence's response in aid of Other Government Departments (OGDs).</p><p> </p><p>Due to the public's adherence to lockdown measures, and the ability of OGDs to maintain essential services, it was not necessary to deploy most of those personnel held at higher readiness.</p><p> </p><p>Defence remains committed to supporting the cross government COVID-19 response, along with delivering its critical outputs maintaining National Security.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>When Armed Forces personnel are mobilised or deployed away from their permanent duty station, it is normal practice that they are provided with access to meals, either directly or via an allowance which permits them to claim back reasonable expenses on food that they have purchased themselves. star this property answer text <p>Further to the answer given during Defence oral questions on Monday 6 July 2020, The Ministry of Defence has developed and implemented a package of Covid-19 protection measures (social distancing, isolation, quarantine and specialist medical air evacuation) for each overseas location. All non-essential travel has been halted to minimise the risk of transmission, and following assessment, those deemed most medically vulnerable have been returned home. Commanders in each theatre have the ability to suspend activity as required to ensure force protection. The Department continues to review where our personnel are serving during the pandemic and the support they may need whilst doing so.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The quality of food provision for Service personnel (SP), whether in isolation or non-isolation, is monitored and assured constantly by the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) and Front-Line Commands. No separate assessment is thus made on the standard of food served to SP in isolation. The standards of food quality are set out in Joint Services Publication 456, Defence Food Quality Standards.</p><p>DIO and its Industry Partners have produced guidance on feeding in isolation and are sharing best practice across the regions including undertaking additional assurance checks in collaboration with onsite teams at the point of delivery.</p> more like this
