	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/11/2018 answer text <p>The Government is committed to preventing drug use in our communities and supporting people through treatment and recovery and we expect to make an announcement about the Recovery Champion in due course.</p><p>We have established a Drug Strategy Board which includes representation from Government departments and wider partners who are critical to the successful delivery of the Strategy, including those in education, health, criminal justice, housing and employment. The Board is chaired by the Home Secretary and its purpose is to oversee and drive implementation of the commitments in the 2017 Drug Strategy. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/11/2018 answer text <p>Nationally, the Government is already delivering a range of actions through the 2017 Drug Strategy to prevent drug misuse in our communities, support people to recover from dependence on drugs, and support enforcement partners to tackle the illicit drug trade.</p><p>We have established a Home Secretary-chaired Board which includes representation from Government departments and wider partners that are critical to drive implementation of the commitments in the 2017 Drug Strategy.</p><p>However, we recognise there is still further to go to tackle the problems caused by drugs, which is why the Home Secretary recently announced an independent review of drugs. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 29/11/2018 answer text <p>Drugs are controlled where there is scientific and medical evidence that they are harmful to health and society. The possession of any amount of a controlled drug is a criminal offence and the supply of a controlled drug is an even more serious offence. No illegal drug taking can be assumed to be safe and there is no safe way to take them.</p><p>The Government’s approach remains clear: we must prevent illicit drug use in our communities and help those dependent on drugs to recover while ensuring our drug laws are enforced. In relation to drug testing at events, chief constables are responsible for operational decisions in their local area and we are not standing in their way.</p><p>The National Policing Lead for Drugs provided updated advice in the summer to all Chief Constables to make them aware of matters that they should consider if working with event organisers who may wish to use drug testing services. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/05/2019 answer text <p>The Government is taking a range of action to reduce the demand for illegal drugs, including Class A drugs.</p><p>As set out in the 2017 Drug Strategy, our prevention approach combines uni-versal action for all young people with targeted action for groups at particular risk, including young people with a range of vulnerabilities, offenders and homeless people.</p><p>Our universal approach focuses on supporting evidence-based programmes which have a positive impact on young people, giving them the confidence and resilience to resist drug misuse. This includes investing in the Alcohol and Drugs Education and Prevention Information Service which provides practical advice and tools to schools and educators, and developing the 'Rise Above' digital hub. For drug consumption rooms to operate it means allowing dealers to sell the most harmful drugs to users in our neighbourhoods. We are not prepared to sanction or condone activity that promotes the illcit drugs trade and the harms that illicit trade causes to individuals and communities.</p><p>A range of offences are likely to be committed in the operation of drug consumption rooms.
