The service provider for Yarl's Wood immigration removal centre (IRC), Serco, is required under their contract to employ sufficient female officers to enable appropriate searching and security arrangements for female detainees. <br><br>Yarl's Wood IRC has 52% male detainee custody officers (DCOs) and 48% female DCOs. A new recruitment drive is underway, with a review of how flexible and family friendly hours might be enhanced to attract more women recruits as well as devising recruitment campaigns that target female audiences. <br><br>Assessment Care in Detention and Teamwork (ACDT) is the system used for monitoring individuals considered to be at risk of self harm and is operated across the detention estate. <br><br>ACDT is a care planning system whereby staff from all areas work together to create a safe and caring environment and provide individual care to detainees.<br><br>All incidents of self harm are treated very seriously and every step is taken to prevent incidents of this nature. Staff at all centres are trained to <br>identify those at risk of self harm so that action can be taken to minimise the risk. Notices in various languages are displayed in IRCs setting out that, where there is a concern about a fellow detainee, this should be brought to the attention of a member of staff. This stems from the fact that France, unlike the UK, is part of the border free Schengen Area. We are clear that it is for the French to maintain law and order on their soil, but it is in the UK's interest to work with France to secure the border at Calais and other key ports.</p><p> </p><p>On 20 September 2014, the Home Secretary and French Interior Minister, Bernard Cazeneuve, signed a joint declaration outlining a number of joint initiatives to tackle increasing migratory flows in Europe. That includes a range of improvements to security and infrastructure in Calais, to strengthen the port and provide greater protection to hauliers and tourists.</p><p> </p><p>Her Majesty’s Government has long been alive to the challenges posed in Calais. Millions of pounds have already been invested in improving security and upgrading technology in Calais. The Government has increased staffing levels in the port and extended security patrols. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 17/06/2014 answer text <p> </p><p>The UK led the call for the urgent imposition of EU sanctions, imposing an asset freeze on 22 individuals suspected of misappropriating funds from the Ukrainian state. <br><br>Those assets which are proven to be the proceeds of corruption through criminal investigations, and subsequently confiscated, will be returned to Ukraine.<br><br>We do not release information on the value of assets frozen under financial sanctions in the UK for reasons of confidentiality, and we do not hold information on the value of assets frozen overseas. <br><br>It is our policy to work closely with other governments to assist them to trace and repatriate stolen assets. All appropriate criminal justice and administrative routes to support the Ukrainians are being explored. The Director of the Serious Fraud Office has opened a criminal investigation into possible money laundering arising from suspicions of corruption in Ukraine. JTAC assessments are made independently of Ministers.</p><p> </p><p>The Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre (JTAC) increased the UK national threat level from international terrorism to SEVERE (meaning that an attack is highly likely) on 26 August for the first time since 2011. This decision was related to developments in Iraq and Syria where groups including ISIL are planning attacks against the West. As the Prime Minister said on 26 September 2014, Official Report, column 1256, ISIL is a terrorist organisation unlike those we have dealt with before, and represents a direct threat to the British people. They have already murdered two British hostages, and are threatening the life of another. The first ISIL-inspired terrorist acts in Europe have already taken place.</p><p> </p><p>There is also a threat to British nationals and interests from ISIL and groups affiliated with ISIL or Al-Qaeda in Arab and African countries. Amongst these groups are Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, operating in the Sahel, and Boko Haram and Ansaru in Nigeria. The campaign ‘Families Matter’ was launched on 21st July by Families Against Stress and Trauma (FAST), a community organisation which provides support to vulnerable families and individuals across the country. Through our work with law enforcement and responsible social media companies, we are making significant progress with removing online propaganda including material from proscribed groups, such as ISIL, which targets the vulnerable and encourages travel. Since December 2013, the Counter Terrorism Internet Referral Unit have removed over 21,000 pieces of unlawful terrorist material, a significant proportion of which is related to Syria and Iraq. The police and security services are actively working to detect and disrupt terrorist threats. Five of these (10%) corrected errors in a previous instrument. Not all &quot;errors&quot; in a statutory instrument are drafting errors. Some instruments are withdrawn due to factual errors or changes in policy.The Home Office Legal Adviser's Branch has in place a &quot;three pairs of eyes&quot; check on all statutory instruments made by the Department. The policy instructions must be cleared by a Senior Civil Service official in the instructing unit. Instruments are then drafted by the responsible lawyer and are checked and cleared by the Senior Civil Service team leader. Instruments are then finally cleared by one of two senior lawyers with specialist drafting skills before they are laid. These processes were enhanced and improved in April this year. Following the recommendations made by the Prime Minister's Task Force on Tackling Radicalisation and Extremism at the end of last year, the Government is now implementing a raft of practical measures to further strengthen our approach across a range of sectors including prisons, schools, universities and online.<br><br>Prevent practitioners across the country work with Local Authorities and key partners, such as the police and the Charity Commission, to provide targeted projects and outreach work. <br><br>One of our initiatives, the Workshop to Raise Awareness of Prevent (WRAP), has been delivered to over 24,000 front-line public sector staff. This teaches front-line staff who work in various sectors and institutions (such as in the education and health sectors) how to recognise people who may be vulnerable to radicalisation, and how to refer people who may need support to Channel.<br><br>We also have a multi-agency programme, Channel, which supports and protects individuals who may be vulnerable to being drawn into any form of terrorism.<br><br>In addition, my Department continues to work with the Department of Education on long-term efforts on reducing the risk of radicalisation in young people, particularly within the schools sector. Since June 2011, Prevent has committed £1.4 million to fund more than 50 projects in schools and madrassahs across the country. Fieldwork for the roll-out of the new full inspection programme is due to begin in January 2015.</p><p> </p><p>The PEEL assessment for 2014/15 will draw predominantly on fieldwork and data from thematic inspections that the Inspectorate has conducted over the last 12 months, including its forthcoming inspection report on Police Integrity and Corruption.
