The Government is still making a detailed assessment of what corrections will be required to make that law function appropriately on exit day. We firmly believe that the best way to achieve this is through gradual multilateral disarmament negotiated using a step-by-step approach and within the framework of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). The near-universal NPT has played an unparalleled role in curtailing the nuclear arms race.
