	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 04/07/2019 answer text <p>The published data on oil exports and revenue in both Sudan and South Sudan is difficult to verify. In Sudan the Central Bank publishes data on the total value of crude oil exports, US$ 321.5 million in 2017 and US$ 440.4 million in 2018, but we cannot guarantee its accuracy. There is no officially published data on South Sudan but the International Monetary Fund (IMF) collects data from different sources (including Government), and has reported exports of 42.0 and 43.5 million barrels in 2016/17 and 2017/18 respectively, raising revenues of US$ 910 million and US$ 1,072 million. The IMF estimates that out of its oil revenues the South Sudanese Government made oil-related payments to Sudan of US$ 480 million and US$ 781 million in 2016/17 and 2017/18 respectively, as a consequence of the 2012 agreement between Sudan and South Sudan. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 08/07/2019 answer text <p>The UK is very concerned by the human rights situation in Sudan, which is identified as a priority country in the UK's Annual Human Rights Report. Our Embassy in Khartoum closely monitors the human rights situation in Sudan, and raises our concerns at every opportunity. It also administers programmes which promote long-term stability in conflict affected areas, support marginalised groups (including women's organisations) and provide assistance for reconciliation within communities. The UK's public statements emphasise the importance of human rights, protection of civilians, and justice and accountability for atrocities committed by both the former regime and by the current authorities during recent events. We also discuss these concerns with partners in Africa, the Gulf and elsewhere and have delivered these messages in multilateral fora such as the UN, and the EU Foreign Affairs Council. On 29 June, the UK, alongside our Troika partners the US and Norway, issued a joint statement that called on the Transitional Military Council to respect the rights of the people of Sudan to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly, permit peaceful protests, and avoid any use of violence. We welcome the African Union's leadership on the political and human rights situation, reflected in its suspension of Sudan as well as its commitment to a Commission of Inquiry into the events of 3 June. We are also working with partners to ensure the UN Human Rights Council (HRC) is focused on Sudan. The UK is firm that there must be justice and accountability for atrocities committed by the former regime and for recent events. We have delivered these messages directly to the Sudanese authorities and publically, including in multilateral fora like the UN and the EU Foreign Affairs Council on 17 June. The UK, with international partners, is considering how we can hold Sudanese regime figures accountable for serious abuses. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 27/06/2019 answer text <p>Government officials have discussed the upcoming media freedom conference, and its priority for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office with the Ugandan High Commission in London. The Ugandan Foreign Minister is also confirmed to attend the conference. Our High Commission in Kampala, alongside the EU and other missions, released a statement on 3 May calling on the Ugandan Government to guarantee freedom of speech and expression, and freedom of assembly as enshrined in the Ugandan Constitution. Following the statement, British High Commission staff highlighted our concerns during the EU Heads of Mission meeting with President Museveni in May. We also expressed serious concern over the TMC's announcement that it would cease negotiations, and we called for an agreed transfer of power to a civilian-led government. We have called on the TMC to take the steps needed to improve the situation in Sudan, including the release of all political detainees.</p><p>The TMC should now take appropriate steps to provide confidence for protestors and create the conditions necessary for the resumption of dialogue, which includes an investigation into the 3 June attack, an end to the blocking of the internet, and a free media being allowed. We have said that the TMC must re-engage in a political process with the protestors and opposition to ensure an agreed transfer of power to a civilian-led authority, in a swift, orderly and peaceful manner. I have and will continue to call for perpetrators to be brought to justice and for the cycle of violence to end. It is essential that the Government of Mali puts in place and implements a comprehensive strategy to address the insecurity and the lack of dialogue between communities in conflict.
