We regard it as part of the People's Republic of China (PRC). We regularly urge China to respect all fundamental rights across the PRC, including in Tibet, in line with both its own constitution and the international frameworks to which it is a party.</p><p>We pay close attention to the human rights and wider situation in Tibet and the Government regularly raises the issue with the Chinese authorities. We raised our concerns directly with the Chinese authorities at the last round of the UK/China Human Rights Dialogue which took place in Beijing on 27 June 2017. The Group endorsed the maximum pressure approach and the goal of achieving the complete verifiable and irreversible denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula.</p><p>There are no plans for a follow-up event. We remain deeply concerned by the misuse of the blasphemy laws and the treatment of minority religious communities, including Christians, in Pakistan.</p><p>We regularly raise our human rights concerns with the Government of Pakistan at a senior level. Most recently my colleague Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon, the Prime Minister's Special Envoy for Freedom of Religion or Belief, discussed the treatment of minority communities with Pakistan's Federal Minister for Human Rights, Dr Shireen Mazari, during his visit to Pakistan on 18 and 19 February. At the UN Universal Periodic Review of Pakistan in November 2017, the UK pressed Pakistan to strengthen the protection of minorities and to explain the steps being taken to tackle the abuse of the blasphemy laws.</p><p>To ensure the United Kingdom is supporting Christians in the best possible way, the Foreign Secretary has commissioned an independent, global review of the support provided to Christians overseas. The Review will consider what additional practical steps the Foreign and Commonwealth Office can take to support persecuted Christians. It will be led by the Bishop of Truro, Rt Revd. The Minister for the Commonwealth and the United Nations raised the UK's concerns about persecution faced by Christian and other minorities in Burma in his speech to the Human Rights Council in February 2018. The UK, working with the EU and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, secured a UN Human Rights Council Resolution on 27 September 2018 that called for the amending or repealing of discriminatory provisions of the &quot;protection of race and religion laws&quot; in Burma covering religious conversion, interfaith marriage, monogamy and population control. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 11/06/2018 answer text <p>On 7 June, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani announced a unilateral, temporary Eid ceasefire. We welcome and support this initiative to try and reduce violence. We hope that the Taleban will join the ceasefire.</p><p>This follows President Ghani's offer to the Taleban of peace talks without preconditions. He made this bold offer in February at the meeting of the Kabul Process for Peace and Security Cooperation. He invited the Taleban to contribute to creating a political process to resolve the conflict. Regional states and the international community endorsed this offer.</p><p>We believe it is now for the Taleban to respond. They have talked publicly about desiring peace for Afghanistan. If they wish to play a political role in the country's future, and if they share the goals of stability and security for its population, they must enter a political process.</p><p>The British Government believes that a political solution is the only way to achieve lasting peace and stability in Afghanistan. This long term effort will require careful diplomacy, difficult decisions and compromises on all sides. We should not expect a quick breakthrough.
