	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 25/11/2014 answer text <p>With the exception of those relating to Shaker Aamer, the British Government receives no specific assurances from the US administration about the treatment of prisoners at Guantanamo Bay, as no British nationals remain among them. However, whilst Shaker Aamer is not a British national, his connections to the UK mean that he remains a high priority for the British Government. Baroness Anelay of St Johns, the Minister responsible for human rights, met Dr Husn Banu Ghazanfar during the Women's Rights and Empowerment in Afghanistan Symposium in Oslo on the 23rd November 2014. Dr Ghazanfar also met the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, my noble Friend the right hon. Baroness Northover, on 3 December at the Ayenda Conference in London along with members of the Afghan Civil Society which was an associate event of the London Conference on Afghanistan. Unfortunately, Dr Ghazanfar’s programme was cut short and she was unable to have further meetings as planned. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 07/07/2015 answer text <p>The UK is committed to supporting President Ghani’s efforts to eliminate corruption, promote human rights and improve the justice system as set out in his ambitious reform agenda at the London Conference on Afghanistan.</p><p>There has been significant progress, particularly on women’s rights, since 2001, but the gains made are fragile and the country still faces huge challenges. The UK provides support and funding for the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission to help it protect human rights, investigate and catalogue violence and support those seeking justice. We play an active role, along with EU Member States, on protecting human rights defenders as part of the EU Local Strategy. In addition, the Department for International Development (DFID) also funds a number of humanitarian programmes that help to promote human rights.</p><p>Through DFID’s Afghan Reconstruction Trust Fund we run a public financial management reform project to strengthen procurement, audit and reporting controls to improve transparency and accountability. The fund is also used to increase access to legal services through a justice services delivery project. Friend the Member for Witney (Mr Cameron) asked Sir Peter Gibson to lead an inquiry into whether Britain was implicated in the improper treatment, or rendition, of detainees held by other countries in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks on 11 September 2001. In January 2012, the then Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice, my right hon. Friend the member for Rushcliffe (Mr Kenneth Clarke) announced the Government’s decision to bring the Detainee Inquiry to a conclusion following the launch of a new police investigation into related matters. In doing so, he said that Sir Peter Gibson had agreed to provide the Government with a report on its preparatory work. In December 2013 the Detainee Inquiry published its report setting out a series of questions which the Government asked the Intelligence and Security Committee of Parliament to consider. This Committee will report to Parliament and to the Government on the completion of its work.</p><p><br>I do not want to pre-judge its findings.
