The demolition could leave up to 100 people, half of them children, without shelter. Demolitions and evictions of Palestinians from their homes cause unnecessary suffering to ordinary Palestinians; call into question Israel’s commitment to a viable two-state solution; and, in all but the most exceptional of cases, are contrary to International Humanitarian Law. However, none of the 30 renewable energy systems have been lost as a result of confiscations or demolitions. We are deeply concerned by the continued demolition of Palestinian property by the Israeli authorities. Demolitions and evictions of Palestinians from their homes cause unnecessary suffering to ordinary Palestinians; call into question Israel's commitment to a viable two-state solution; and, in all but the most exceptional of cases, are contrary to International Humanitarian Law. However, the UK is gravely concerned by Israeli proposals to relocate the Bedouin population from the E1 area. These plans could have a devastating impact on the communities concerned and will likely open the way for further settlement expansion – endangering the viability of the two-state solution. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 02/06/2020 answer text <p>We made clear our concerns about reports that the new Israeli Government coalition has reached an agreement, which may pave the way for annexation of parts of the West Bank, at the UN Security Council remote meeting on the Middle East Peace Process on 20 May. The Foreign Secretary reiterated this message during a call with Israeli Alternate Prime Minister Gantz on 20 May. The UK position is clear: any unilateral moves towards annexation of parts of the West Bank by Israel would be damaging to efforts to restart peace negotiations and contrary to international law. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 27/10/2017 answer text <p>The UK has not directly funded any structures in recent years that have been demolished by the Israeli Government.</p><p>According to the EU, 155 Palestinian structures, including 67 in Area C, were demolished or seized in the West Bank (including East Jerusalem) over the period 1 March to 31 August 2017.</p><p>39 structures funded by the EU or its member states were demolished or seized throughout the West Bank in the same period. A further 34 EU funded structures were demolished in January and February. Prior to the most recently scheduled Israeli High Court hearing about Khan al-Ahmar on 25 September –subsequently postponed - our Embassy in Tel Aviv raised our concerns with the Israeli authorities on 24 September.
