If an enquiry is related to an ongoing case from an individual known to the officer managing the case it is at the enquirer’s discretion whether to disclose the subject of the enquiry to the member of staff handling the first line enquiry. From January to October 2017 the Foreign and Commonwealth Office has received 157 enquiries relating to assistance, six of which the subject was disclosed as relating to detentions in Iran. It is regularly reviewed and updated in consultation with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO). The current version makes clear that the Iranian Government does not recognise dual nationality and that the British Embassy will be unable to offer consular assistance to dual nationals if they encounter difficulties. In addition, section 9.4 of the document states that the guidance should be read in conjunction with the FCO travel advice. This travel advice clearly sets out the risks presented to dual nationals travelling to Iran.</p> more like this
