These applications are subject to peer review and judged in open competition, with awards being made on the basis of the importance of the topic to patients and health and care services, value for money and scientific quality. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 28/01/2020 answer text <p>The Government will publish a National Strategy for Disabled People in 2020 to ensure all disabled people can lead a life of opportunity and fully participate in society.</p><p>In addition, National Health Service trusts are taking actions to help improve awareness of hidden disabilities such as:</p><p>- Several trusts have signed up to the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Lanyard Scheme. Through the wearing of a sunflower lanyard, patients and the public can indicate that they have a hidden disability and that they may require additional assistance; and</p><p>- The Accessible Information Standard is a requirement for organisations that provide NHS care or publicly-funded adult social care. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 28/01/2020 answer text <p>The Department invests £1 billion per year in health research through the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR).</p><p>NIHR’s cancer research expenditure has risen from £101 million in 2010/11 to £132 million in 2018/19. This constitutes the largest investment in a disease area.</p><p>As with other Government funders of health research, the NIHR does not allocate funding for specific disease areas. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 27/04/2018 answer text <p>No recent assessment has been made by this Department of the effectiveness of Government programmes in specifically assisting low-income families with autistic children.</p><p> </p><p>The special educational needs and disability (SEND) reforms in the Children’s and Families Act 2014 have brought benefits for all autistic children and young people and their families by providing for a system of support across education, health and social care to ensure that services are organised with the needs and preferences of the child and their family at the centre of the process.</p><p> </p><p>Reforms introduced by the Act include the publication of local offers of SEND services by local authorities, the introduction of streamlined education, health and care needs assessments and Education, Health and Care Plans, which set out in one place the support from education, health and care services children and young people will receive.</p><p> </p><p>Since May 2016, Ofsted and the Care Quality Commission have been inspecting local areas on their effectiveness in fulfilling their new duties for children with SEND. All 152 local areas in England will be inspected over a period of five years.</p><p> </p><p>We have included autism indicators on diagnosis and post-diagnostic outcomes in the Mental Health Services Dataset, with data collected from 1 April 2018. However, the changes to the law are designed to encourage further research and the National Institute for Health Research has issued a call for research proposals to rapidly advance knowledge in this area.</p><p> </p><p>Interim clinical guidance, commissioned by NHS England and issued by the Royal College of Physicians, British Paediatric Neurology Association and Association of British Neurologists on certain severe epilepsies in children and adults, is based on the best available international clinical evidence and reflects clinical guidance that has been published in other jurisdictions.</p><p> </p><p>The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence has been commissioned to develop guidelines on the prescribing of cannabis-based medicinal products by October 2019. The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has published evidence-based best practice guidance for clinicians and commissioners on a range of inflammatory skin conditions, including eczema and psoriasis. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 05/02/2020 answer text <p>The Care Act 2014 placed a duty on local authorities to shape their local markets so that there is an adequate supply of provision which ensures all adult social care service users have a choice of high-quality services. In the case of state-funded care, local authorities negotiate with care providers to achieve a balance of quality, effectiveness and value for money for the public purse.</p><p>The level of fees charged to people who fund their own care is a private contractual matter.</p><p>The Care Act also placed a duty on local authorities to assess an individual’s finances to establish if they are able to pay for their care. This ensures everyone can rely on state support if they do not have the means to support themselves. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 21/01/2020 answer text <p>The National Health Service provides clinical care and treatment for women with endometriosis, including treatment for severe endometriosis through specialised centres across England.</p><p>To support women with endometriosis, all obstetricians and gynaecologists have been trained in the diagnosis, investigation and management of the condition, which is specifically listed as a topic in the core curriculum for obstetrics and gynaecology.</p><p>NHS England recommends the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology guidelines on the management of women with endometriosis. The guidance offers best practice advice on the diagnosis and treatment of women with suspected endometriosis as well as the effectiveness of medically assisted reproduction for endometriosis-associated infertility.
