industry and groups supporting bereaved people about Social Fund Funeral Expenses Payments and in particular the maximum amount of £700 available for other costs. We have made clear that we will ensure that Funeral Expenses Payments continue to meet the necessary costs of a cremation or burial for eligible claimants. Average payments have increased year-on-year to meet these necessary costs. We have had to make difficult choices about welfare spending and it has not been possible to increase the £700 maximum for other costs. However, we have made interest-free Social Fund Budgeting Loans available for funeral costs in addition to Funeral Expenses Payments.</ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial"> </ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial">We have also been carrying out reforms to the Funeral Expenses Payments Regulations which are coming into force in April 2018. The reforms focused primarily on clarifying a number of issues around eligibility and to simplify the process for claiming a Funeral Expenses Payment. star this property answer text <p>No one on Universal Credit, who are weekly paid, will see a drop in their total income from earnings and benefits in any assessment period with 5 paydays in it. In contrast because of the way UC works in 5 payday assessment periods, the total income a claimant will receive in that month will always be higher, whether their UC is reduced or extinguished</p><p> </p><p>For example if someone is weekly paid at a rate of £200, and has a gross UC entitlement of £1400 a month their total UC entitlement (assuming no work allowance) is £896 a month and £800 from earnings. Total income in the month, benefits and earnings of £1696.</p><p> </p><p>In a five payday month their earnings rise to £1000, UC falls to £770. Total income from benefits and earnings £1770.</p><p> </p><p>For someone on higher earnings of £450 a week, with the same UC gross entitlement of £1400 will receive in a four payday month earnings of £1800 and UC of £266 a month with a total monthly income of £2066. In a five week month their total earnings rise to £2250, UC entitlement zero but total income in that month is higher than in the four payday month.</p><p> </p><p>Everyone who is weekly paid will have a higher income in the 5 payday month, either through a combination of UC and earnings or on straight earnings. The UC taper ensure that people keep every pound of their earnings, with only a 63% reduction in UC entitlement. This is how the system works and how we make work pay. Media reports to the contrary were wrong, misleading and alarmist for UC claimants and I welcome the opportunity to put the record straight.</p>

star this property answer text <p>We continue to work with employers to support and encourage them to build healthy, inclusive workplaces where disabled people and people with health conditions can thrive.</p><p>Through Disability Confident we are getting employers to think differently about disability and to take action to improve how they attract, recruit and retain disabled workers. The Department is constantly looking to improve the Disability Confident offer to employers that sign up and to do this we have introduced a specialist themed approach, offering additional advice, guidance and support on a wide range of topics such as Mental Health, Autism and Neuro-diversity and Reasonable adjustments.</p><p> </p><p>The Department is also working more directly with smaller employers through the new Small Employer Offer, which provides small employers with a personalised package of support including advice from specialist advisers.</p><p>Finally, Access to Work provides practical and financial support for employers and employees with the additional costs faced by individuals whose health or disability affects the way they do their job. The scheme does not replace the duty an employer has under the Equality Act to make reasonable adjustments, instead it provides support that is over and above that.</p>

star this property answer text <p>The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is responsible for enforcement of health and safety legislation on farms in Great Britain (GB). On 15 September 2017 HSE published its sector action plan for agriculture, setting out actions HSE will take to promote farm safety (<a href="http://www.hse.gov.uk/aboutus/strategiesandplans/sector-plans/agriculture.htm" target="_blank">http://www.hse.gov.uk/aboutus/strategiesandplans/sector-plans/agriculture.htm</a>).</p><p> </p><p>HSE is currently running a programme of Safety and Health Awareness Days (SHADs) for farmers across GB (<a href="http://www.hse.gov.uk/agriculture/diary.htm" target="_blank">http://www.hse.gov.uk/agriculture/diary.htm</a>) and is undertaking a targeted inspection campaign focussing on agriculture as set out in HSE’s 2017/18 Business Plan (<a href="http://www.hse.gov.uk/aboutus/strategiesandplans/businessplans/plan1718.pdf" target="_blank">http://www.hse.gov.uk/aboutus/strategiesandplans/businessplans/plan1718.pdf</a>).</p><p> </p><p>Working with HSE, Local Authorities carry out visits to open farms and animal visitor attractions to deal with matters of visitor safety in relation to infection risks (<a href="http://www.hse.gov.uk/lau/activities.pdf" target="_blank">http://www.hse.gov.uk/lau/activities.pdf</a>).</p><p> </p><p>HSE also works closely with industry stakeholders, through GB’s Farm Safety Partnerships, to promote and support their activities to improve health and safety in farming.</p><p> </p>

star this property answer text <p>The number of unemployed is currently 1.42m, down 59,000 this quarter, down 182,000 on the year, down over 1.08 million since 2010.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>Jobcentre Plus has a flexible support model to provide support and District Managers have discretion on how to target interventions. The model has three elements: a core regime of regular face-to-face meetings; flexible work coach support; and a flexible menu of support options.</p><p> </p><p>Where Jobcentre Plus District Managers identify gaps in skills or other provision they have discretion to purchase extra support to meet particular needs using the Flexible Support Fund.</p><p> </p><p>Jobcentre Plus work coaches can advise claimants on the localised provision and support available, either by employment sector or skills/employability.</p> more like this
