star this property answer text <p>By the end of this year the Access for All programme, launched in 2006, will have provided step free routes to more than 150 stations and smaller scale improvements at over 1,100. A further £160m has been allocated to extend the programme until 2019 and the 68 stations to benefit from this were announced last year.</p><p> </p><p>This is in addition to access improvements delivered by other major projects or the industry itself, which must meet UK and EU standards for accessibility.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>We take improving station accessibility very seriously and the Access for All programme has delivered step free access at over 150 stations with a further 68 projects in construction or development. In addition, whenever infrastructure work is carried out at stations it must meet current accessibility standards. For example, when Crossrail fully opens in 2019, all 40 stations on the route will also have step free access.</p><p> </p><p>Step free access to London Underground is a matter for Transport for London, but I understand that 66 Tube stations and 57 London Overground stations currently have step-free access, and Docklands Light Railway stations are all step-free.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>We remain committed to improving station accessibility and have continued with the Access for All programme, launched in 2006. All of the available Access for All funding is allocated until at least 2019. Should further funding become available in the future we will commission new nominations for projects.</p><p> </p><p>In addition, whenever infrastructure work is carried out at a station by the industry, it must comply with the relevant EU and UK standards. These can be found at <a href="http://www.gov.uk/government/publications/accessible-railway-stations-design-standards" target="_blank">www.gov.uk/government/publications/accessible-railway-stations-design-standards</a>. My Rt Hon Friend may therefore wish to contact Network Rail to see if any work is planned at Brookmans Park that might trigger these requirements.</p> more like this

Currently 70% of train fleets operating passenger services meet modern accessibility standards, up from just 39% as at January 2011, with the remaining vehicles due to be either upgraded or replaced by 1 January 2020. We are continuing to improve station access through the Access for All programme and other major projects such as Thameslink or Crossrail. By 2019 at least 75% of all journeys will be from stations with step-free access.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Station staffing is a matter for individual train operating companies. Details of the staff available at individual stations are published on the National Rail Enquiries website. The Government does not hold this information.</p><p> </p><p>As part of their licence to operate each train operating company is required to have a Disabled Persons’ Protection Policy (DPPP) in place. This sets out the level of services and facilities that disabled passengers can expect, how to get staff assistance and how to get help if things do go wrong. Within this policy, train operating companies must commit to participating in the Passenger Assist system.</p><p> </p><p>The Equalities Act 2010 requires that train operating companies make reasonable adjustments to allow access to their services. For example, if a passenger cannot access a particular station, train operating companies are required to provide a free accessible taxi to the nearest accessible station.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Inclusive Transport Strategy, strategy published on 25 July 2018, included a commitment to extend our Access for All programme across rail Control Period 6 (2019 to 2024) with an additional £300m of funding from the public purse.</p><p> </p><p>We have asked the industry to nominate stations for the new funding by 16 November this year. Nominated stations will be selected based on their annual footfall, weighted by the incidence of disability in the area. We will take into account local factors such as proximity to a hospital or the availability of third party funding for the project. We will also ensure that there is a fair geographical spread of projects across the country.</p> more like this
