	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 11/10/2018 answer text <p>Data collected by the EU- and US-funded Aid in Danger project (from both open and confidential sources) show that, between January 2015 and December 2017, there were 12 incidents of sexual violence and abuse committed against aid workers (individuals employed by or attached to a humanitarian, multi-mandated, UN or government agency, foreign or South Sudanese) in South Sudan. Aid organisations regularly reconsider operations due to insecurity. Conflict has also deepened the country’s crisis, displacing millions and bringing the economy to its knees amongst widespread hunger.</p><p>Amidst these challenges, UKAid is saving hundreds of thousands of lives and protecting future generations. The UK monitors conflict dynamics on a monthly basis to ensure our aid is conflict sensitive and to minimise harm. This is completely unacceptable.</p><p>Alongside our international partners, the UK is continuing to engage with South Sudan’s leaders at the highest level to make clear that physical and bureaucratic obstacles to the delivery of lifesaving aid must cease immediately.</p><p>Despite these obstructions, UKAid continues to save lives. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 14/03/2018 answer text <p>Although famine has not been formally declared in 2018, South Sudan continues to experience record levels of food insecurity as a result of the ongoing conflict. 5.3 million people, nearly half the population, are estimated to be severely food insecure - a 40% increase from the same time last year. 1 million people are on the edge of famine.</p><p>To tackle food insecurity and prevent famine, UK Aid is working with partners like the World Food Programme (WFP) and the UN Humanitarian Air Service to get food and nutrition supplies to key locations across the country – by truck, helicopter or barge. With support from the UK and other international donors, so far this year WFP has reached almost 1.6 million people with a total of 18,000 metric tonnes of food. Following the launch of a statutory inquiry by the Charity Commission, Save the Children UK withdrew from bidding for new UK Government funding until they can meet the high standards we expect of all our partners. Existing programmes with Save the Children will continue, governed by our risk management processes.
