star this property answer text <p>DFID’s UK estate comprises two joint-headquarters, 22 Whitehall in London and Abercrombie House in Glasgow. DFID’s current energy supplier for both offices are EDF Energy for electricity. DFID’s energy is contracted via the Cabinet Office’s Crown Commercial Service Framework. DFID intends to take advantage of renewable energy options under the new Crown Commercial Service Framework when putting in place new energy supply arrangements. Our membership and support for international financial institutions like the IFC helps to advance sustainable and inclusive growth in developing economies. The IFC has robust environmental, social and governance safeguards, which it assesses all projects and investments against. The UK uses its seat on the IFC Board to ensure these standards are met and will take this into consideration when deciding whether or not to vote in favour of a particular project. star this property answer text <p>DFID is partnering with India to tackle climate change and transition to a clean growth pathway that will benefit us all, by providing advice and technical assistance. DFID’s Supporting Structural Reforms in the Indian Power Sector programme is working to improve the efficiency, reliability and sustainability of electricity supply in India, enabling a reduction in carbon emissions. Since 2015 DFID has invested in over 1GW of renewable energy projects in India – returns from these investments come back to the UK taxpayer. To date £55m has been returned.</p><p>The UK ended traditional aid to India in 2015 and no financial assistance is provided to the Government of India.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>In support of the Sustainable Development Goals 1 and 8, DFID is committed to ensuring that individuals in developing countries have access to affordable and appropriate financial services, including in insurance.</p><p>DFID supports the creation of an enabling environment for insurance services in developing countries through our funding to Financial Sector Deepening Africa who are working with local insurance regulators to adopt more effective policy frameworks and digitally-enabled product innovations.</p><p>We are also funding the World Bank’s Harnessing Innovation in Financial Inclusion programme. This seven-year programme is aimed at enabling financial inclusion on a sustainable basis, using technology to help poor people in developing countries access and use financial services.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The UK government recently announced that it will step up its efforts to end the preventable deaths of mothers, new-borns, and children. The UK’s work on ending new HIV infections and preventing AIDS-related deaths is a part of that commitment. We recently announced a 16% increase in our contribution to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria – £1.4 billion for this year’s replenishment. In 2018 alone, UK aid helped the Global Fund to provide 18.9 million people with antiretroviral therapy and protect nearly 700,000 babies from being infected by their mothers.</p><p>DFID’s assessment of progress on reducing global incidence of HIV/AIDS are informed by annual reviews of our programmes, which are publicly available on the DFID Development Tracker, along with reports and data produced by UNAIDS and other partners including the World Health Organisation and the Global Fund to fight AIDS, TB and Malaria.</p> more like this
