	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 14/03/2019 answer text <p>DFID officials are aware of the Palestinian Authority’s (PA) plans to make partial salary payments to public sector officials earning 2,000 NIS (£425) or above a month. We are in the process of assessing the implications for PEGASE beneficiaries (who are vetted health and education public servants) including through discussions with the PA. The UK continues to support a stable PA which can act as an effective partner for peace with Israel, through financial assistance that exclusively supports the salaries of vetted public servants in the West Bank in the health and education sectors. This move does not affect the robust financial safeguards that ensure UK financial aid only reaches intended beneficiaries, meaning aid is not allocated to Prisoner or Martyr payments. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 21/11/2018 answer text <p>The UK government continues to raise concerns with the Saudi led-Coalition about the potential impact of any assault on the port and city of Hodeidah and is in regular contact with the Coalition about the need to ensure that any further military operations do not disrupt commercial and humanitarian flows both through the port and onwards across the country. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 11/03/2019 answer text <p>The UK has a multi-year commitment to support United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) and we plan to continue to fund the Agency in line with that agreement. This will provide basic services such as health and education to Palestinian refugees in Gaza, the West Bank and the region.</p><p> </p><p>Last year the UK led international efforts to help ensure UNRWA’s essential services were maintained, by almost doubling our original core support of £33.5 million to £65.5 million in total, and lobbying other donors to step up, to ensure the funding burden is shared more evenly across the international community. Both the UK and UNRWA recognise the need for UNRWA to reform to ensure its sustainability, and UNRWA has undertaken significant cost-cutting measures to respond to budget cuts and growing needs. We welcome UNRWA’s efforts to broaden its donor base and are encouraging partners to provide more funding and more predictable disbursements. A long-term solution requires a just, fair, agreed and realistic settlement for Palestinian refugees. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 18/02/2019 answer text <p>The ongoing conflict in Syria has caused immense human suffering, displacing over 6 million people within Syria. The UK has committed £2.71 billion in response to the Syria Crisis since 2012.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>We monitor displacement and maintain close contact with other donors and humanitarian partners to ensure our programmes are supporting those most in need, including internally displaced people (IDPs). In September 2018, DFID provided an additional £32 million for Northern Syria to provide essential services such as shelter and clean water for those in need, including the up to 1.4 million IDPs in Idlib. We also fund the life-saving provision of water for thousands of IDPs at the Rukban camp and are supporting efforts to help those affected by hazardous winter conditions at Al-Hol camp. But our efforts are hampered by access problems caused by Assad’s regime and violence on the ground.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>In Iraq, DFID has committed £252.5 million in humanitarian support since 2014. This includes an additional £10 million which I announced during my visit to Baghdad last month. UK aid has been a lifeline for IDPs and others in need. The UK has provided healthcare services to 4.1 million people, sanitation and safe water to 2.1 million people and food to over 400,000 people.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The UK has also committed over £47 million to directly improve conditions in areas liberated from Daesh in Iraq, including an additional £6.9 million which I announced during my recent visit. UK aid is having real impact. For example, it enabled the repair of a water treatment plant serving 300,000 people in East Mosul, the rehabilitation of 2,000 homes in West Mosul and the reopening of 38 schools across Northern Iraq. We urge the Venezuelan government to recognise the seriousness of the situation and take immediate action to relieve the suffering from acute shortages of food and medicines. A political solution is urgently required to tackle Venezuela’s deep economic and social crises, and allow those who have left to return to their homes.</p><p> </p><p>We have deployed two humanitarian advisors from DFID as part of a scoping mission and funded five UN agency secondments to the region. DFID supports evaluation of project proposals through representation on formal cross-government or sectoral governance mechanisms, and through collaboration and close working of officials. DFID makes available its independent evaluation and quality assurance service and contributes to production of cross-government guidance. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 04/03/2019 answer text <p>The UK is working with the Ministry of Health in Burma to upgrade Sittwe General Hospital to provide better health services for all communities in Rakhine State. The refurbishment will go in hand with work to ensure that hospital access and referral networks ensure that it serves all communities. The UK specifically supports the women and children health ward and modernising the building to make it safer for patients.
