According to the UN, more than 10 million people require immediate humanitarian aid to survive, including half a million children under 5 who are severely malnourished.</p><p> </p><p>The UN has launched the largest ever humanitarian appeal for Yemen, requesting $2.1 billion to provide life-saving assistance to 12 million people in 2017.</p><p> </p><p>In 2015 and 2016, the UK helped over 1 million Yemenis with food, medical assistance and clean water. We are encouraging others in the international community to step up their response in Yemen.</p> more like this

These include programmes delivered by multilateral organisations, programmes that benefit an entire region and research into the problems of developing countries. star this property answer text <p>The Secretary of State has regular discussions with Cabinet colleagues regarding the allocation of UK official development assistance (ODA) to ensure that it is used most effectively to tackle global challenges in our national interest, in line with the UK Aid Strategy.</p><p>The main mechanism for providing UK bilateral ODA in Eastern Europe is the Conflict, Stability and Security Fund (CSSF). This includes support to economic and political reform delivered to five countries – including Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine – through the Good Governance Fund (GGF).</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>On 21 September, the UK announced an extra £40 million of humanitarian funding to Iraq, taking our total commitment to £90 million this financial year and £169.5 million since June 2014. This new assistance will be targeted specifically to enable a scale up of humanitarian assistance ahead of the Government of Iraq-led Mosul operations. It will provide emergency life-saving assistance – such as food, shelter, medical and protection services – to civilians affected by Mosul operations, as well as continued support to displaced and vulnerable people across the country.</p> more like this
