	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 15/09/2017 answer text <p>The Prime Minister has made available £57 million to support those affected by Hurricane Irma which is being delivered through a co-ordinated response, drawing on expertise from across Government. DFID has sent more than 40 metric tonnes of UK aid to the region including thousands of shelter kits and solar lanterns. More supplies will be arriving throughout the month.</p><p>Our top priority is to help with the most urgent needs. But we are also discussing with the governments in the region how best to support them as they begin to get basic services such as health and education running again, and to rebuild their economies and infrastructure.</p><p>The Government will continue to do all it can to support those affected. This was illustrated most recently at the 2017 Family Planning summit, which had a Youth Panel that helped set the agenda.</p><p>We are also working directly with 5-18 year olds in the UK through our Development Education programme, investing in a new generation of Global Britain ambassadors, proud of the work the UK is doing to tackle global poverty, and better prepared to live and eventually work in a globalised economy. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 14/09/2017 answer text <p>DFID’s recently published Economic Development strategy sets out our firm commitment to economic inclusion, and focus on the poorest and most marginalised young people who are routinely excluded and experience multiple barriers including social discrimination, unfair laws and violence. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 14/09/2017 answer text <p>The UK is taking a range of steps, from supporting young people in poor and vulnerable households with basic needs, to promoting positive sexual and reproductive health, a cornerstone of adolescent well-being and inclusive economic development.</p><p>Education is key to improving young people’s lives and economic opportunities – especially for girls. Our priority is to ensure all boys and girls have access to a decent education and are learning. We focus on basic education, but where country context dictates, we complement this through support to upper secondary, technical and higher education.</p><p>Increasing skills among young people will not lead to increased employment unless there are jobs for them to enter - and there is too little productive work for young people in developing countries. The SDGs cannot be achieved without a strong focus on children and young people.</p><p>We are committed to supporting education in particular for the most marginalised. We have stepped up on education in emergencies through our funding of Education Cannot Wait and funded 380,000 teachers through our multilateral contributions. Through the Girls Education Challenge we are getting more girls with disabilities into school and learning. On top of this DFID also provides support to Yemen through our global programmes and through our multilateral contributions.</p><p>Our contribution this year makes us the second-largest donor to the UN’s 2017 Yemen Appeal and the third-largest humanitarian donor to Yemen overall.
