This means we attach priority to disability in all our policies and programmes as well as supporting disability-targeted programmes.</p><p>We have made significant progress in mainstreaming disability inclusion in our humanitarian response, including the development of an internal guidance note on ageing and disability in humanitarian response. We will build on this foundation by supporting partners to deliver on our commitment to include disaggregated data on age and disability as part of our requirements for funding humanitarian proposals, and advocating for the use of the Minimum Standards on Ageing and Disability Inclusion with humanitarian partners to improve the mainstreaming of the principles of inclusion.</p><p>DFID has funded the Disability Rights Fund (DRF) since its inception in 2008 and our current grant of over £2.6 million between 2013 and 2016 reinforces our commitment to the DRF. This means both hearing first-hand the challenges people with disabilities are facing and identifying effective approaches for collectively addressing these challenges.</p><p>Many DFID country offices are engaging directly with local people with disabilities to shape and direct their work. For example, in Rwanda we are engaged with the National Council of Disabled Persons and the National Union of Disabled Organisations of Rwanda (NUDOR), which represents a large number of DPOs. The UK recently pledged up to £1 billion to Gavi for 2016 to 2020. The full UK contribution to Gavi will save a child’s life every two minutes. This funding will be disbursed in tranches on an annual basis. The full UK funding will be released so long as the total amount committed by donors meets Gavi’s replenishment target of $7.5 billion. More than 6.3 million primary school children and 3.7 million secondary school children have benefited since 2011. Working in partnership with provincial governments and the private sector, we aim to get more children into school, staying longer, and learning more.</p><br /><p>DFID has funded the Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) for the last three years. The report includes a wide range of data on education, including pupil enrolment, provision of facilities, and learning outcomes. In their 2015 report, published on 17 December 2015, ASER reports on national progress on literacy in rural areas for example it shows that grade 5 literacy levels in English have improved by 7 per cent. DFID interventions in the education sector since 2011 are likely to have had a positive impact on literacy levels in Punjab and Khyber Phaktunkhwa, given the focus on improved facilities and teaching, and pupil and teacher attendance. We continue to call for the full implementation of the relaxation of access restrictions for Gaza and, with robust monitoring, for the entry of essential items on the dual-use list to allow for rehabilitation of the water network. We also continue to press both parties to reconvene the Joint Water Committee to facilitate further approval of key projects that will improve Palestinian access to water.</p><p>Through the UN FAO, DFID has invested up to £1.24m to help vulnerable rural farmers in Area C support their families through increased incomes from agricultural production.
