star this property answer text <p>The Secretary of State continues to have regular conversations with ministerial colleagues across Government on all aspects of exiting the EU.</p><p>To provide certainty to farmers and landowners, the Government has pledged to commit the same cash total in funds for farm support until the end of this Parliament. This commitment applies to the whole UK.</p><p>The Agriculture Bill will allow us to break from the Common Agricultural Policy and help our farming sector become more profitable whilst sustaining our precious natural environment.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The European Council has been clear that the Withdrawal Agreement cannot be reopened.</p><p>However, in the light of engagement with the working group of which colleagues were a part, the Prime Minister has secured a legally binding commitment that both sides will aim to replace the backstop with alternative arrangements by December 2020.</p><p>A specific negotiating track will be established to take that work forward at pace in the next phase. The Government will make available £20m of funding to support the development, testing or piloting of ideas that emerge, where the Government believes it would be helpful.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>UK Ministers meet regularly with Ministers from the Scottish and Welsh governments, through JMC (EU Negotiations), JMC (Europe), the Ministerial Forum (EU Negotiations), as well as bilateral and trilateral meetings. In the absence of an Executive, we also engage at an official level with the Northern Ireland Civil Service.</p><p>Yesterday the Prime Minister met with the First Ministers of Scotland and Wales as part of ongoing discussions to find a consensus around the terms of the UK’s exit from the EU. Both Ministers have been invited by the Prime Minister to attend all relevant meetings of a new Cabinet sub-committee that will bring together work on preparations for the UK’s exit from the EU, spanning both deal and no deal outcomes.</p><p>This builds on the increasing engagement in recent months between the UK government and the devolved administrations and our commitment to give them an enhanced role in the next phase of the Brexit process, respecting their vital interests in these negotiations.</p><p>UK Ministers will attend the next meeting of the Ministerial Forum (EU Negotiations) in Scotland next week.</p><p> </p>

star this property answer text <p>This Government is committed to fully involving Gibraltar as we leave the EU together. Most recently, DExEU Secretary of State, Steve Barclay, and I met the Chief Minister of Gibraltar, Fabian Picardo, on 5 December, and the Prime Minister met him on 15 November. We also meet regularly in the Joint Ministerial Council, our primary forum for engagement, which has met seven times since the referendum.</p><p>Chief Minister Picardo observed in his statement on 23 October that we have worked “hand in glove” throughout the negotiations on Withdrawal. He described the deal as one which ‘works for Gibraltar’ and welcomed the “unwavering commitment of the United Kingdom that it will negotiate future trade and other arrangements with the EU that work for all of the British family of nations, including Gibraltar.”</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The UK Government is firmly committed to maintaining the Common Travel Area (CTA) and to protecting the rights enjoyed by UK and Irish nationals when in each other’s state. <br><br>The Joint Report recognises that the UK and Ireland can continue to make arrangements between themselves relating to the CTA. The Commission’s draft Withdrawal Agreement Treaty text builds on that agreement, confirming that the UK and Ireland can continue to work together as part of these arrangements. <br><br>We are determined to ensure that all of the commitments on Northern Ireland/Ireland in the Joint Report are turned into legally binding text.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The ONS estimates that the UK exported £27bn of financial services to the rest of the EU in 2016, as well as £23.7bn of professional services such as legal services and management consultancy.<br><br>We will be seeking a bold and ambitious free trade agreement between the United Kingdom and the European Union. This should be of greater scope and ambition than any such agreement before it so that it covers sectors crucial to our linked economies, such as financial and professional services. We believe that such a deal is in both the UK and the EU’s shared economic interest.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>At the General Affairs Council on Monday, the European Council agreed negotiating directives on the implementation period. Now that the Commission has a clear negotiating mandate, we hope to move quickly to begin detailed discussions on the implementation period.</p><p>The exact nature of our involvement in the EU institutions, agencies and bodies during the implementation period remains a matter for discussion.</p><p>However, during the implementation period, we are agreed that EU rules and regulations will continue to apply. To ensure that these rules and regulations operate effectively, it makes sense that the UK continues to be involved in relevant bodies.</p> more like this
