star this property answer text <p>Local authorities are responsible for allocating public funding to youth services in their area. We believe they are best placed to know what is required in their communities. To increase opportunities for young people to benefit from open access youth services and youth social action, Government is investing £80 million, in partnership the National Lottery Community Fund, through the Youth Investment and #iwill Funds.</p><p> </p><p>A public call for evidence as part of the review of the guidance which sets out the statutory duty placed on local authorities to provide appropriate local youth services will be announced in due course. We expect that the review will provide greater clarity of Government’s expectations, including the value added by good youth work. <strong> </strong></p> more like this

Preliminary roundtables were held with youth sector organisations and young people through the Government’s Youth Steering Group, focussing on the strengths and weaknesses of the current guidance. A public call for evidence as the next step of this process will be announced in due course.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Following the Prime Minister's summit on serious violence in April this year, government has been working with the Premier League, Sport England, National Governing Bodies and other organisations in the sport and physical activity sector to explore what more can be done to use sport and physical activity to tackle serious violence, including knife crime.</p><p> </p><p>Using Sport England insight and Home Office hot spot data, action will be targeted at the areas that need it most. Detail is still being developed and further information will follow over the summer.</p> more like this

This is supporting the expansion and creation of open access youth services in the Wirral, Wolverhampton and Barking and Dagenham.</p><p> </p><p>Local programmes funded by DCMS and delivered through delivery partners are also delivered in OnSide Youth Zones. For example a money management programme through the Savers Support Fund, programmes through the Sport for Development fund and National Citizen Service local delivery.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Three new youth voice projects were announced in February to encourage young people to participate in making national policy:</p><p> </p><p>- Youth Steering Group</p><p>- Young Inspectors Group</p><p>- Digital Youth engagement research</p><p> </p><p>The Youth Steering Group has already been involved in discussing the Government’s future offer for young people and the review of the guidance which sets out the statutory duty placed on local authorities to provide appropriate local youth services. The Department for the Environment Food and Rural Affairs and the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy invited the Youth Steering Group to conduct a review of environment and climate policy. Young people are also contributing to policy development on serious violence through the Government’s Youth Advisory Forum on Serious Violence .</p><p> </p><p>The Young Inspectors Group are participating in the monitoring and evaluation of national programmes affecting young people.</p><p> </p><p>The Digital Youth Engagement research explored how new digital solutions can enable large numbers of young people to play a role in consultations and policy design across government.</p><p> </p><p>We will make further announcements on these pioneering Youth Voice projects in due course</p>
