This funding will continue to support this work over the winter.</p><p>We are not able to replace every pound of funding charities would have received this year, and many organisations will need to assess what measures they need to take. Information on the wider measures government has made available and details on how to access the support can be found on <a href="http://gov.uk/" target="_blank">gov.uk</a>. The £750 million package of grants announced by the Chancellor on 8 April is a substantial package of targeted support for charities and their staff working on the frontline of responding to Coronavirus. Charity workers can also make use of other measures announced by the Chancellor including the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>The Government funding will be allocated based on evidence of service need. No allocations of government funds have been made yet but departments are working at pace to identify priority recipients. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 01/05/2020 answer text <p>The Government is aware that the coronavirus outbreak has caused a series of economic challenges to charities at a time where they are seeing an increased demand. The £750m funding package announced by the Chancellor is specifically aimed at supporting those who need to continue providing their services as part of the national coronavirus response.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>£360 million will be directly allocated by government departments to charities providing key services and supporting vulnerable people during the crisis.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>A further £310m will be granted to charities through the National Lottery Communities Fund (NLCF) in England and £60m via the Devolved Administrations. We expect the application system for the National Lottery Community Fund grant pot in England to be operational shortly.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>Unfortunately, we cannot match every pound of funding charities expected to receive this year. Many charities will have to assess whether they can access cross-cutting support measures announced by HM Treasury. Unfortunately, not all charitable organisations will be able to benefit from this package. I would encourage organisations to assess whether other schemes provided by the Government will be better suited to their circumstances such as the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme and deferring VAT payments.</p><p> </p><p>DCMS has also been working closely with Arts Council England (ACE) to monitor and respond to the challenges being faced by the arts and cultural sectors. On 24 March, Arts Council England announced a £160m emergency response package, made possible by Government funding, to complement the financial measures already announced by Government and ensure immediate resilience of this vital sector. Of this, £360m is being distributed by central Government Departments and £370m is available for charities providing vital services for those affected by the pandemic.</p><p>Of the £310m available in England, £200m is being distributed by the National Lottery Community Fund through the Coronavirus Community Support Fund. Charities and social enterprises can bid into the Coronavirus Community Support Fund from 22 May.</p><p>This funding will support organisations working with people and communities experiencing disproportionate challenges during the crisis, and those that provide services and support for vulnerable people which have seen an increase in demand or have lost income. The voluntary sector is playing a vital role in providing services for vulnerable people, and will continue to be an important vehicle for the UK’s Covid-19 response.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>I thank Coeliac UK for continuing to work closely with gluten free food industry contacts to understand how coronavirus might affect the production and supply of gluten free food to make sure that the safety of people with coeliac disease is maintained.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>In response to the pressures faced by charities and voluntary organisations a package of grant funds worth £750 million was announced on 8 April to support charities at risk of financial hardship. This is a substantial package of targeted support for charities on the frontline of responding to Coronavirus. £360 million is coming directly from government departments, and £370 million will be provided for smaller charities, including through a grant to the National Lottery Community Fund. More information on this second tranche of funding More details will be released in the coming days via the National Lottery Community Fund.
