star this property answer text <p>The department has not made a comparative assessment of the energy efficiency of traditionally built new homes with maximum wall and cavity insulation and that of timber framed homes.</p><p>Our requirements are performance based so do not specify any particular form of construction. For new homes the energy requirements include minimum fabric and insulation performance standards irrespective of whether these homes are traditionally built or are timber framed.</p><p> </p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Government will increase funding for Discretionary Housing Payments to a total of £800 million across the Parliament to enable local authorities to help people who need extra support with housing costs. As in previous years, funding will be allocated to local authorities based on local pressures, including housing benefit caseload and the effects of reforms in Housing Benefit. We consider these local impacts each year during our allocation of Discretionary Housing Payment funds, and this will continue.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Time spent in temporary accommodation means people are getting help and it ensures no family is without a roof over their head. The numbers of households in temporary accommodation remains well below the September 2004 peak.</p><p>Local authorities have a duty to ensure that any accommodation provided for a homeless household under the homelessness legislation must be suitable. In considering ‘suitability’ authorities must, by law, consider whether the accommodation is affordable for the applicant, its size, its condition, its accessibility and also its location.</p><p>In 2012, we changed the law so that councils can place families in decent and affordable private rented homes. This now means homeless households do not have to wait as long for settled accommodation, spending less time in temporary accommodation.</p><p>In addition, we have allocated £550 million until 2020 to tackle homelessness and rough sleeping, as well as supporting the Homelessness Reduction Act, including: protecting £315 million of funding to local authorities and £149 million of central government funding for homelessness programmes.</p><p>We have also replaced the Department for Work and Pension’s Temporary Accommodation Management Fee with a Flexible Homelessness Support Grant which local authorities can use more strategically to prevent and tackle homelessness. This amounts to £402 million over the two years from 2017/18.</p><p>DCLG publishes regular statistics on rough sleeping, statutory homelessness, temporary accommodation and homelessness prevention and relief. These are published at national, London and local authority level . star this property answer text <p>Data for DCLG covers annual pay remit years for all staff eligible for a pay award. This does not include pay adjustments on promotion or new appointees not eligible for a pay award.</p><p>Pay remits, which are drawn up in accordance with HMT guidelines to reflect an average 1 per cent spend, are signed off by the Secretary of State for delegated grades AO – G6. Pay awards for SCS staff are made in accordance with SSRB guidelines, overseen by the Cabinet Office</p><p>Data for 2014/15 includes contractual buy-out payments made in excess of 1 per cent as part of the Department’s pay reform exercise to move people off guaranteed pay progression.</p><p>It was agreed as part of the second phase of Pay Reform in 2015/16 that additional contractual obligations could be funded outside of the 1 per cent. Salary increases below 1 per cent include part consolidated pay awards where the person was less than 1 per cent from the maximum of the pay range.
