	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 12/11/2018 answer text <p>The Government promotes the safe and responsible use of fireworks by consumers and there is strict legislation in place which regulates their supply and use.</p><p> </p><p>There are age restrictions in place which prevent the sale of fireworks to those under the age of 16 or 18 dependent on the classification of firework. The law also prohibits those under 18 possessing any category F2 or F3 fireworks in a public place subject to very limited exceptions.</p><p> </p><p>The Government is currently working with industry, retailers, charities and others such as the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents and Netmums to promote the safe and responsible use of fireworks and to raise consumer awareness on firework safety.</p> answering member constituency Rochester and Strood answering member printed Kelly Tolhurst question first answered 12/11/2018 17:28:32 answering member 4487 label Biography information for Kelly Tolhurst

	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 30/11/2018 answer text <p>Under the Pyrotechnic Articles (Safety) Regulations 2015 there is a ban on the supply of categories F2 and F3 fireworks to people under the age of 18.</p><p>All premises supplying these fireworks are required by the Fireworks Regulations 2004 to display a notice highlighting that it is illegal to sell fireworks to people who are underage and for underage people to possess them in public. There is also a ban on the possession of these fireworks in public places by people under 18.</p><p>Local Authority Trading Standards have powers to enforce the law and work with businesses to help them comply with the law through practical advice and toolkits. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 10/11/2020 answer text <p>It is illegal to sell fireworks or sparklers to any person under the age of 18 years and all premises supplying fireworks are required to display a notice highlighting it is illegal to sell fireworks to under 18’s or for those under 18 to possess fireworks in a public place.</p><p> </p><p>Local Authority Trading Standards have powers to enforce the law and work with businesses to help them comply. The Government has worked with the Chartered Trading Standards Institute to provide training to front-line officers on firework enforcement.
